This in reference to the previous 22-11 post.Thought it was two things going on at the same time.Had computer reflashed, dealer bent the probe so they weren't able to sync as per Mr Haney.Bypassed pick up tube didn't make a difference.Ran truck with pressure gauge and bubble site glass on windshield, truck dies out completely after it goes just over 30 psi of boost.Truck doesn't stall just loses all power and throws a 22-11.Timing gear lash has been checked, check valve has been replaced, primer handle been replaced, every fuel hose from tank to head has been replaced.Fuel pressure never drops maintains 95 psi when this occurs and no bubbles.Idle is 80 psi {fuel pressure}.No other codes and it does it only when your on a steady pull in one gear making boost. While watching the prolink fuel rate dropes completely off when this occurs.?????????

All wiring harnesses have been checked, crank and cam sensor have ben changed.Wiring harness has been ohm checked to both sensors and injector plug from ecm.Switched ECM didn't make a difference. How does the advance on front of cam work and how do you check it.Bypassed primary filter didn't make a difference.Could a torque limit switch due this if it has one.3406E 2000 yr K.W.

Did you change both fuel filters?

Also could your gauge be bad? Mine is and the other day pulling a hill the truck started to shutter, I knew it was the filters, but my gauge was still reading 50 lbs.

Filters have been changed, gauge is fine, fuel tank has been emptied and filled with new fuel.I'm not using truck gauges i'm using my diagnostic gauge set up.

The torque limit is written into the programming. To have the engine derate on torque limit, the ECM must see a harmonic that is read by the crank timing sensor while at full power. Could it be this? Possible. If this is causing the problem, now you'll need to find what's possibly creating the harmonic. The only time I've experienced this is at high horsepower levels and the clutch lets go and then grabs hold. If it does this in quick succession then it creates a harmonic in the crankshaft the ECM reads. The other possible harmonic would be caused by a crankshaft damper that has failed. The liquid silcone that the inertia ring floats in can become hard. When this happens the damper can't absorb the harmonics in the crankshaft caused by the cylinders firing and the piston being pushed down the bore. Again this gets worse at full power versus cruising under a light load.

I thought of one other thing you can check for harmonics. The cam gear has weights in it. If you remove the gear and remove the plate that holds the weights inside the gear, check for the cam gear cracking. The first things I'd look at for the harmonic are this gear and the crankshaft damper. Whenever I had a engine derate on torque limit for the clutch.........it never caused a fault code for the timing sensors calibration. This code requires that the ECM read a difference of 3 degrees of timing difference between the camshaft and crankshaft timing/speed sensors. The only other reason this code will show up is..........the ECM isn't calibrated to the engine. This is what the shop couln't perform because of the bent probe

Mr Haney will this code when it becomes active cause this problem? When the engine starts this instant loss of power thats when the code becomes active. The driver said it used to do it once and awhile but know its undriveable thats when it was sent to me.I can get it to do it at the same spot onthe hill everytime. It sounds like a rapid misfire as if there was air in the fuel but there is none. And it only does it when you bring the engine over 30psi of boost than its as if the ecm just shut the fuel off but the injectors are still cycling. If you let up ont the accelerator for a couple seconds you can start to accelerate.

There is no harsh vibration at all.The best way i can describe it sounds like a rattle snake when its rattling. The ecm is original to the truck so i'm sure it was calibrated from factory. The engine has 829,000 on it.Could the combined backlash between all the gears cause this? But from what i've been reading i didn't think this code would cause the truck engine to act like this just throw a code.Even when i unplug the cam sensor {taking the sync out of the equation}i still get the engine to do this.Could valve and injector lash cause this being late on your injector timing

It is derating bcause of the 22-11 code as mr haney said as soon as the ecm detects more than a 3 degree differance between the crank and cam sensor code 22-11 becomes active and derates the engine. With almost 850,000 miles and 11 years of service i will bet the damper is bad. The rattleing sound is the lash in the gear train slaping back and forth from the harmonics if i had to guess. It probably only does it at over 30 ponds of boost because that is when the engine is making the most power and therefore the most deflection of the crank is happening at that time making the harmonics that are causing the problem. As mr haney said it would also be a good idea to get the timing calibration done.

its not that mechanically sounding of gear lash would be. I know this is hard to describe sorry. How would i be able to tell if the silicone has dried in the damper?
