I'm curious to know your opinion on what the best GPS navigation is. I'm looking to buy one and don't want to waste my money on junk.![]()

I would find a half way decent one. Personally I like the Tom Tom's the best. They are all pretty comparable though. Don't buy the really cheap ones. Try to pick something up mid-range, price wise. Whatever you get you still need to double check all of your directions with your Road Atlas and Qualcomm directions. This will keep from getting in a pickle!

Garmin fan here, I have the 465T for truck routes....come in handy plenty of times.
PainNdaNeck Thanks this. -
I have the rand mc nally 5 inch. it is awesome. i love all the features and the display. Mine is having some problems though. It skips and wont hold on course. I called in and the guy at rand mc nally said it has a hardware problem and it needs to be returned. Still I love it. It shows all the weigh stations, restaurants, truckstops, and so much more. Since I've bought it, i rarely use my atlas. Everything is right there at ur fingertips including turn by turn directions and mileage. It's nothing that I would completely count on but it's very good.

Maybe a mod can move this thread to the appropriate section.

Don't use a Tom Tom for truck GPS. It will put you in places a truck has no business going. I have had both the PC Miler 440 and 450, and am overall very pleased.

Don't go with a gps for the exact route. Use gps as a resource, along with your atlas, calling customer for a truck friendly route to thier door.
I use the Rand Mcnalley 500, as well as mapps, and directions.
Tomtom, for truck routing is not a good idea. You may find yourslef with out a roof on the trailer, or on a road where trucks are not allowed on. -
I didn't know that Tom Tom had the ability to actually turn the wheel and steer the truck for you. That's a pretty cool feature, I'm amazed they don't advertise it.
