well, i just got done with orientation last week with swift and it turns out that i have some problems.
i did my CDL schooling with CR England back in 2007 and when i did that i had to switch my drivers license to an Indiana drivers license to take the cdl test in Indiana at there school. well that was in July 2007, then in September i finally managed to make it back to Ohio to get my cdl switched back to Ohio. all seemed to go fine and i parted ways with CRE in April 2008. well i haven't been on the road in a semi since then and i got on with swift and they wanted my Indiana drivers license number and i didn't have it. so i called up CRE and after spending all day on the phone with them i finally managed to get the Indiana drivers license number and gave it to the lady that needed it (this was while i was in orientation mind you) and finished orientation and never got coded. well i finally get a call from swift today saying that for some reason my Indiana drivers license is suspended and the only thing that swift can find out is its suspended because of medical reasons and i am like WTF. so i spend half today on the phone trying to figure out whats going on with this.
well it turns out that Ohio never bothered to let Indiana know that i gave up my Indiana drivers license and got a Ohio one so now i seem to have 2 drivers licenses, one in Indiana and one in Ohio, and am not allowed to drive on eather one because the Indiana is suspended and the Ohio one don't count because the federal database has me pointed at Indiana still.
so i have been driving since July 2008 not legally evidently.
Ohio is saying that Indiana needs to file a "Change State of Record" while Indiana is saying that Ohio needs to file the "Change State of Record" and now everyone is closed so i cant get ahold of anyone to try and get this all straightened out.
so what you guys think i should do. i plan on calling Indiana again tomorrow since the last person i was talking to was Ohio and i guess i just have to keep bouncing back and forth till i can get this all fixed. and Ohio refuses to call Indiana and Indiana cant get a hold of Ohio because you have to try like 10 million times because there number is always busy....
over all i just hate the stress and headache this is calseing. what you guys think?
what do you guys think about my little problem...

For the life of me I cannot understand all the change you DL over to another state then switch it back and such. Just makes no sense at all. Other than maybe a money grab.
Sorry to hear about your state of affairs. Hope it gets sorted out soon. -

Foxtrot I think you can go for years being bounced back and forth by bureaucrats who couldn't handle working anywhere but for a government agency. There is little if anything more frustrating that this type of crap.
What you might try, is to go in person to your Ohio DMV. It is always a bit harder to ignore someone face to face, than it is on the telephone. If you run into obstructionism there, demand (in a nice way of course,) to talk with a supervisor. If that supervisor does not want to help you, demand to talk to their supervisor.
Once these idiots see that you just aren't going to go away, eventually someone will do what ever it takes to get rid of you. And that just might include getting your problem straightened out.
Good luck man and be as calm and professional as you possibly can when dealing with these folks.Trilleth and The Challenger Thank this. -

Don made an excellant point, but if you can't afford a 3 hour drive, you have serious
problems !!
Make a phone call, deal ONLY with a supervisor, and sound as professional as possible.
Even after this gets strightened out, you may still have some problems.
Good Luck,
don't wait, GiterDone today !!!!! -
I would go to Indiana DMV and show them Ohio license and whatever else you have to prove your state of residence (vehicle registrations, home loan papers, etc).
It will not be cheaper, but more than likely quicker, which will probably = cheaper if you're not working due to this snafu. -
And have somebody drive you, since you have no license.
Don't get stopped for that !!!!! -
Why would Indiana suspend the license? Because you have a OH license? How did they get wind of it other than a license change? States should be use to CDL process with out of state schools.
Sounds like OH screwed up and did a reinstatement on your original license instead of a state change over? You are going to have to take care of the suspension part by getting to the root of the OH messup.
Your money receipts and paperwork should clarify everything??
It's funny how you have to follow their procedures but when they mess up because they didn't follow procedures... Sounds like a mess. Good luck.
If it makes you feel better, when I got my CDL I had to clear up four states of suspensions all over a speeding ticket when I was 16 years old. I wasn't even driving.
I had to pay the fine and get a letter of clearance from each state along with all the fees. -
Believe it or not sometimes your local congressman can help with state crap like this.
Gets them brownie points with the community.
