Hi JohnBoy, my name is Juan, I called Jim yesterday(Monday) mentioned him I talked to you on this forum a few weeks ago, He said they were hiring drivers from Laurel, MD area. I just sent in my application... I have been driving OTR for about 3 years, no tickets no accidents "Thanks god"... I really like all the good things you and the other drivers are saying about Calex.
Any advise on what to expect from this point?
Thank you JohnBoy for sharing all you experience with us on this forum.
Be safe out there my friend!!!

    JohnBoy Thanks this.

The first thing they will do is get your DAC and a copy of your MVR. Then they will verify your previous employment. All that will take about a week. Then it will be a road test either with a driver in your area or at the terminal. When that is done then they will send you for a physical/drug screen in your area. When all that is completed and passed then they will have you come to Pittston for orientation. Any other questions just ask. Good luck.

I would like to add that jim is the only one in safety, recruiting. mort is out this week and things are slow. I have my drug test and physical complete and
have been waiting the last 7 days for a road test or transportation to the terminal. you live close to the terminal so it may go a little faster.

I think it depends on your job history and experience. I started at .36 p/m.

I got loaded late Monday night and made it to Kingsland GA about 1am Tuesday morning. Let me tell you, the place I loaded at in Reddick has to be the biggest rat hole I've ever been to. I got there at 1pm and was the 2nd truck in line to load. At 7pm they finally put me in a door. The 3 trucks at the dock were being loaded as the product was coming off the assembly line. I finally left at 11pm. So much for my Wednesday 6am delivery.I woke up Tuesday morning and called the receiver for directions and was told they rescheduled my delivery for 6am Thursday. This trip is not going good thats for sure. I called Louie to tell him about my new delivery time and he told me to stay on it as he had no local drivers available to deliver it. No problem, he told me I was preplanned on a load to Orlando for Thursday afternoon that delivers Tuesday. This is whats great about dispatch, they have fulfilled my request every time I have asked to be home on a specific day. I asked to be home for Monday and to get a load to deliver on Tuesday and it was done. I'm now sitting in the T/A in Southington CT and will leave around 4:30 to drive the 60 miles to my delivery in Westfield MA. I should be back in Pittston around 11. Gary has been ahead of me all week. He unloaded in the Bronx this morning and is in the motel by the terminal while his truck is in getting a new windshield. He's under a load going to Las Vegas. I guess I'll be going west next week when I get back to Pittston.
