The US is not the only Country that struggles with combat stress related suicides after redeploying. I do not know where you have been lately, but suicide rates among veterans is higher than it ever has been.

    NopE!
He was tried for murder in Los Angeles, but a jury of his peers weren't convinced beyond a reasonable doubt that The Juice did the crime.
Who can forget Johnny K's famous acclamation; "If the glove doesn't fit, --- you must acquit"?
    That was the criminal trial.

Next came the civil trial where O,J. was sued by the Brown's, Nicole's parents, for wrongful death, as I recall. That time his peers were convinced that O.J. was to blame. The civil court then awarded the Brown's just about EVERYthing ol' O.J. owned, including trophies and Super Bowl ring leaving him practically penniless --- with any and all future proceeds received to also be handed over to the Browns. Losing all his worldly possessions seemed to hurt him more than the death of his children's mother.

Then O.J. wrote a book titled "If I Had Done It", or something to that effect. That outraged more than a few folks.
    Go figure.

But O.J. was so obsessed with gettin' some of his mementos back that when he heard that someone was sellin' some of those cherished possessions, he went to see them packin' heat. The State of Nevada frowns on such activity and ol' O.J. found himself back in front of a judge and jury. Apparently the Nevada jury had no reasonable doubt(s), and O.J. was found guilty.

I forget the length of the sentence he received, but suffice to say he'll be a guest of the Nevada Penal System for quite a few years.
From the penthouse to the outhouse.
I'm thinkin' more like for his under-handed ways.
    Thank yew! :salute:

    That's your "fav"?
    I'm flattered.

See the quote below from the first post in this thread where the original poster explained that locking caps didn't stop the theft.

    Some advice?
    If I may, .................
There's a lot to be gleaned from the posts contained within the various threads here at The Trucker's Report. But to get the most bang for your buck, you really should read them all. And for the price, ....... well, ..... it would be a bargain at twice what it cost. :biggrin_25525:

    Which night was that?
I'd have to check my Official Hours Of Service Log Book to try to figure out where I was when we reappeared.
    Then compare mine to Baack's.
If they both match, that might jog my memory.

    Hmmmmmmmmmm
    Then again, .............................
    ............. is it possible that we're ................
    ..... one-in-the-same .................... ? :biggrin_25524::biggrin_25524:

:biggrin_25514:I'd say that was worth the price of admission. :laughing-guffaw: :laughing-guffaw: :laughing-guffaw:

    OucH!
    "For a while"?
Kinda like the calm before the storm?
After "a while", when they do return, what mood would you imagine they'd be in? The motive could be revenge, and it could get personal.
.That could result in being read your rights and advised anything you say may be held against you in a court of law.
I don't think it's legal to set booby-traps, especially those that injure -- or worse. Who knows? You just might wind up bein' cellies, and he's still in a bad mood.
Who do you reckon will have more friends in the same prison?
    Imagine that.

If push comes to shove, is there *insurance* that can be had? By that I mean being extorted by local thugs who keep an eye on thangs --- for a price. That price may be cheaper than replacing fuel on a regular basis.
    Just a thought

Another thought; do you know of anyone who would be a night watch-person in exchange for allowing them to park a trailer there? If that's allowable. An ad in the local newspaper could yield results locating such a person.
    Win -- Win, no?

I had the same problem when I had my company. Thieves sneaking in and siphoning the fuel.
I bought an electric fence unit...the kinds used for cattle fences, and had to get creative. put a rubber insulator around the edge of the fuel cap, then wrapped a bare wire around that.
the electric fence unit puts out a lot of voltage, but nearly zero amperage. So the result is a (harmelss) shock that will make an unsuspecting person pee their pants, but cause no harm.
One unit will wire a fleet of trucks.
    Worked for me.
We even found an empty fuel can they had brought to fill up. Apparently they were so shocked (no pun intended) they dropped the can and ran.
    Never came back.

notarps, seems like you have other interest then the OP. What does combat have to do with fuel theft??

I'm surprised anyone hasn't suggested filing a police report each theft. Yes, the police dept will start watching and beef up patrol.

Also, theft is a tax deduction you can use. So a police report would be a good idea. At least you recover some of your loss. You can even file an insurance claim. But repeated claims would be bad.

Crack complex near there? That's where it's going. They'll steal anything that will turn a dollar. I would be more interested in catching the crack head driver they are selling it to.

Try reading. Someone mentioned shooting the person. That carries a great emotional burden. There is a time to kill. Someone stealing fuel isn't one of them. The poster saying combat vets don't often kill themselves is wrong. Why are you not down on him like you are me? Here is a bit of info for you. I don't give a flip what you or anyone else thinks. My stance on one vet committing suicide is one too many. I don't give a flip what you think about what I post. This hits close to home for me.
