I never signed any contract that required me to stay with the company. I went to there school, paid it off, did my job, and that was that.

Okay, cool. -
you're better off trying to come up with the upfront costs at a big truck company. for example roehls school is 2800 bucks, but if you complete 120k with them its forgiven. i'd soon just try and save up, pay the 2800 bucks myself for their course, get hired on with them, if they screw me around jump ship in 6 months. sooner or later i will be doing this, just taking my sweet time as i have a local job now with straight trucks. cant make a decision like going OTR quickly.

fincial aid is available for 480 hours courses, it takes around six months to get, but companies like to see it

I have read his books, he does not say one school is better over the other. What he does explain is the difference between company training, private and community colleges. If you do not have the funding for a private school like TDI or a CC then company funded would be the only option. He also explains the downside of each. What I read of that book I can get the same information on this web site by reading posts.
