Just wonder what they pay. I have 1 year OTR pulling dry vans.
What "extras" do you get paid for? Tank wash pay?
Are you in bad places like Newark, the boroughs of NYC?
Are you forced dispatch?
How long would I have to train?
I live in Nashviille TN if that makes a difference.

We start orientation on the 27th with Schnieder bulk. I've talked to six different drivers over in the bulk division. They are really happy. We can't wait...

"bad places like Newark"? lol If you are with Schneider Bulk you better get used to the idea of New Jersey. Newark, Bayonne, Linden are just some the places in the garden state you will visit. (plus Philly and the Wilmington area). On the plus side not much city (NYC)stuff and what there is is mostly done by the Jersey locals.
Forced dispatch....yes
Don't even know if they are hiring bulk drivers out of Nashville. I don't think we haul much of anything out of the area. (have deliverd to the Dupont plant off of old hickory blvd, and some of the TVA stuff west of Nashville)
Don't know how long the training is. It is classroom and simulator stuff (prob in Reserve La for your area, if hiring) then with a trainer for a while. I did it MANY years ago so things have changed since I did it. -
Before comming on board, you may wish to get a heads up on a few things that's currently under way. http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...nges-in-works-schneiders-company-drivers.html -
How does this affect team trucks in the bulk division? -
If you are in Bulk your OC will be either Houston, Reserve,Gary,Coraopolis or Keesbey. You may park your truck at Atlanta, West Memphis, Charlotte, Los Angeles etc.....but your home OC will be one of the 5 bulk OC's.

I worked 4 SNBC out of Keasbey, NJ. and if you have anything more then 6 mths of experience you'll be downgrading even though you haven't driven tanks before. If you have or want any kind of home life, forget SNBC they'll run you everyday right up to your 70 hr limit and keep you going just enough to not go over the limit (ex: you have 6 hrs left on your 70, they'll run you 5.5 hrs and sit you until midnight when you get more hours back and run you 'til that time is used and so on) and blame you for any thing that goes wrong, as for the pay scale .32 per mile for newbies. Nothing extra for Haz-mat which is most of what you'll haul. Pay checks are also sketchy at best, lots of questions if they're correct on what you did.
Forced dispatch= once you have "orders" on your qualcomm it's yours and nothing short of a hospital visit will change that.
Undesirable areas delivered to or picked up from. There's not many places that you go that is a decent place to visit or even go through.
In closing, if you want tank experience look somewhere else unless you like to be treated like an idiot that doesn't know what a truck is or how to drive it if you do. They have so many limitations on what you need to do for some measly bonus it's basically unattainable and are condescending when they speak "AT" you about your going over-speed or missed delivery because the driver that you handed it off to or got it from was late you both are responsible for the timely delivery of the load.THD Thanks this. -
Scratch them off the list.......doesn't sound like my cup of tea.
I did talk with a van driver that has 2 1/2 years there. Said they were crying for tanker people on the Qualcom. I think I know why...........
