i always wait 1-2hr after they reopen I-80 to let all the super truckers go and to make sure it will stay open...?

nov of 09 we were sitting in pine bluff, wy. for 20 hr. because 80 was closed, when they opened it we sat for about 1.5 hr and as we were getting ready to roll they closed it again. if we had rolled when they opened it we would have been stuck looking for a parking spot in cheyenne.

Why would I do that when my company will pay me $13.75 per hour to sit in a truck stop and not risk the equipment.

I was on my way to Iowa City week before last right into the teeth of that storm. I stopped just below INDY when the roads got icy and trucks started jackknifing. Sat there from Tuesday at 3:00 PM until Thursday morning at day break. I-74 was shut down. It would have been stupid to move.

Got paid for 16 hours of weather delay. Had I run I would have lost a couple of hundred dollars in pay.

I am almost always heavy between 72k and 80k never ever get any light loads heard england only gives them to company drivers. All the rubber on my tractor is less than 4 months old. That being said, I push and shove my way to the front. I keep my 64 MPH truck pressed against the governer and as hard as i can going uphill. The worse it it out there the better it is for me becouse I will never get passed and there is a lot less traffic going 25mph ets. slowing everybody down. The storm that just hit, I went a full 10hr shift at full throttle on the ice only got passed once, by a tanker. Storm last week in S. Texas whole shift never got passed, only seen maby 2-4 trucks on that ice mess. I love it, no traffic to deal with.

Why do drivers on bad roads who only want to drive say 30 MPH on an interstate try to pass a truck on the ice going 29MPH?? If your going that slow does a couple MPH really matter? Why do you hold up the other drivers who are loaded and can run full throttle in it? Is it some kind of bully thing? Why are they so da.m disrespectfull for the drivers who do run tight loads on bad road conditions??? Want to kill all those drivers who do that. Some trucks and 4 wheelers just parallel a truck in the hammer lane without making any progress. Just block the whole interstate and keep all traffic at 25 MPH reguardless of how far traffic is backed up behind them and how many air horns are blowing at them. Worst thing I ever dealt with on the roads. I can handle the four wheelers jerking me around in my sleep, yawn. But that just bothers me, almost literally ran a few trucks off the road doing that. They do it a while, I will jerk them around for a while relentlessly, make them feel my pain. The only thing thats ever really bothered me.

you dude, are going to be the next statistic...........just 'cuz your heavy, does not mean you can stop on ice if you are going "full throttle".

I try not to run until the roads are better, glassy in western PA on 80 is treacherous, and one dumb move by someone can leave lots of traffic stuck tight on the big road.

IL can be bad because of that, too, but nearly anywhere I have been, conditions can get bad enough to cause problems, and I'd rather park it than be in the middle of someone's misjudgement.

No tow means that in Iowa, and I refused a couple runs because of it. I used to break trail eastbound on the way back. Don't let your ego or someone else's get you into trouble.

Before the no tow, we had to go out if we could get the rig going.

Of course I can stop on ice if I am going full throttle, just takes a bit longer than when its dry. I have cheated death a million times since I was born. I have spent my whole life french kissin the grim reaper, for some odd reason he dont want me???? Dont figure becouse I have done amost everything I could except actually put a gun to my head and pull the trigger for him to take me, in the last 20 years pluss of my life. It is what it is. I aint judging you for being a ##### dont judge me for having a "set"

There has been one time when I got talked into driving in weather that I was not comfortable in. I made it where I wanted to be, but it was a very stressful day. Needless to say I learned a lot on that day. I also learned that I can say NO alot easier now and have no regrets in doing that.

I dont mean to be disrespectful but... You 'd have a bigger (set) if you used some good common sence... That kinda thinkin' WILL get you one day and I'm gonna say real soon with two years ex and that attitude. I've driven eight years without an accident then just three weeks ago BAM!! Sometimes your the bug sometimes your the windsheild.
