Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.
what is you?

I miss hauling heavy equipment. I'd still be doing it if it paid a little better.

When I was 23, I got a job at a corporate travel agency. I enjoyed booking all aspects of the trip including flights, car rental, and hotel. It was a call center that handled the travel reservations for many corporations. So the pay was by the hour and not commission. If I could make good money doing a job like that it would be great. Of course, with the proliferation of the internet, travel agents are pretty much a dying breed.

I enjoyed being a claims adjuster. You wouldn't believe the excuses people would come up with.

FedEx Ground, Parcel Van O/O. All my customers knew me by name, had my route down pat, home every night and work maybe one weekend day A YEAR, never brought home less than $850/week, after all expenses AND taxes.
Favorite routes, US23 is a nice ride thru KY and VA, US64 is a heck of nice ride too , even though it is a restricted route (and yes, trucks run it all the time). I40, through the Gorge, especially at daybreak -and in a light truck, so you can grab the hammerlane when you need to! ANd how can I forget route 126, from Eugene (or springfield, can't remember) to Sisters,OR. -
My favorite job is being a truck driver. I just love the freedom of being out on the road. I wouldn't want to do anything else even with the industries little "quirks". My favorite route? Anywhere out west. I just love the desert, and the miles to and from.

Bartending, by far. I love to drive and travel, but the things you witness in a bar.

Driving is my game, used to run all the states, really miss the east to west trips, from n.m. out to ca.,beautiful people, attitudes, and scenery cannot be beat, the snakes running across the dessert rds,the skinny white rats, colored from the hot sun, cactus all around, miles and miles of quiet peaceful scenes, passing by the mile, the cops hiding in the ditches around yuma, arizona, just wave and say have a nice day to yourself when you didn't get caught, antelope and elk in colorado, moose and once I saw a panther, about 3 leaps and 8 ft long cleared the whole roadway in a couple of seconds, blue meza mountains in co.,delivered a log cabin there with my son in his and my trucks that we both drove for Pep out of maine. Trucking is great and as pretty and good as you make it,you can control your own destiny, just get the right type of trucking job that you will like and go for it,,make it what you want, easy or difficult, study or don't study etc, it's a great life and after 40 years still like it.God I must be insane, just kidding,I think.
