My m11 has a miss and it smokes when ilding, not a black but more like a car in cool weather, is this unburned fuel?

most likely YES, if it is white smoke then it is unburnt fuel. could be numerous things causeing it, like bad injector soleniod or a bad injector wire, injector wires failing is common on a M11, if you r mechanicly minded you can do a pull back test, which is you back off all the exhaust manifold bolts enough so that you can see a gap of about half inch or so then start engine and see which exhaust port the smoke is coming from, this way when you start pulling the top end apart you already know which cylinder the problem relates to and you can check the injector wire and the injector soleniod etc. hope this helps. regards Dave

My m11 had similar Problems turns out it was the Ecm failing, might look there as well. Do you get a miss at a certain rpm?

Hi there T800H, (sorry to rob your post) Thanks for asking, the engine is very strong, I now have about 2500km on the engine and have used no oil yippy! But I have had other issues I had to replace the Air Govenor and the wet air tank purge valve and by a new fan sensor because the horton fan was not kicking in. But overall I have had a good run considering the truck sat for over 2 years before i got it, and that it is worth twice the price of what it cost me to buy and rebuild. yep im happy :biggrin_2559:

Thanks Dave I,m going to work on it this weekend. Also I have an oil leak on top of the head could this be a rocker box gasket or is there something else I should look for? It's not the valve cover.

No miss at any given time or rpm CRX it's just random.

Check the injector wire joiner/plug at the back of the head area, they have a tendancy to leak, When I rebuilt my engine I put silicon on the external plug where it sits against the housing. if you have jakes it really should not be a leak from the jake gasket, but you never know. check the injector wire plug 1st.
