Well, I have been selective about who to apply with, but I finally put in an application with Transport America. They basically hired me that day, and I am scheduled to attend orientation next week in KC, Mo.. I will be running out of Dallas and told I will be home weekly ! WhooHoo, hope it holds true.
I need some prayers though. I last drove for an owner and got to treat the truck as my own, taking it home when I wanted, taking off when I wanted (so long as the truck was in the black the owner had no problem). It was basically my truck to do with as I pleased. I am now looking at following the rules and regulations of a company, which I should manage, but after being basically my own boss for the last 2 yrs, this may get tricky. Oh prior to this job I owned my own truck so I had final say as to what I did.
I am a 50 yr old female, and I hope to be able to keep my mouth shut when needed. Pray for me !!!![]()

Oh, almighty Lord above, help Txladycando truck on down the highway, make her appointments, take all the guff from dispatch, deal with breakdowns and short paychecks, contend with 2 day layovers in BFE wherever, and especially all the cat calls from other drivers at the local T/A's.
NJKatwoman Thanks this. -
Why did ya quit the other gig?
-
I didn't quit the other guy, the truck was 10 yrs old with 1.7 million miles on it and it was starting to cost him money so he sold it. His other truck is leased to Fed Ex CC, WG. He did get me pre approved to drive for another contractor, but I just don't want to be out 4-6 wks.

Well it's been a long while since i worked for TA but it was a great first driving job. Hired on right outta "driving school" and was there for about 4 yrs. i have nothing bad to say about them...great company to work for especially as a rookie driver. Mostly out 12-14 days and home 2-3 at the start. Then i got on a Gen Mills dedicated, toledo-Missasagua ontario, buffalo, harrisburg and back to toledo towards the end and i got home every weekend. Like i said it's been over 10 yrs since i worked there but thought i'd throw my .02 in
and if any of you TA drivers out there know Zoe (dispatcher) tell her hi for me
(don't know if she's still there or not)
DJ out
p.s. reason i left was i got on local LTL originally Overnite now UPS freight.
