The internet has many uses..........
search them in reference to law suits, case law, cobra, workers comp, unemployement compensation, IRS/Per Diem issues. For starters.
Also look into PEO. Also PEO nightmares
All in reference to the company issueing your paycheck.

Care to share some links? Sounds like you've done quite a bit of research on this, huh? I only found one lawsuit, of which Premium won. Where did you find anything on Case Law? If I search "Premium Transportation Staffing" "Case Law" in google I get zero results. Searching for "Premium Transportation Staffing" Law Suits yields few results. Searching "Premium Transportation Staffing" "Per Diem" gives me no useful info and in fact, this very thread is the first result? Care to help out here? How have you found out that this company is so evil?
I just signed up to recieve my paystubs via email. Another new feature for us drivers. -
You can pull your entire settlement up on Prime's website. Diver Code and Code # is all you need to access... enter your truck number
It usually up between 1900-2100 every Weds. night (unless its one of those holiday weeks where cutoff is extended)
I can pull up any statement from week one of employment to this weeks. -
That's awesome, I was trying to figure out I was going to check my pay stubs back home when I'm on the road, but now I guess I don't have to worry about that anymore.
-
That, and internet access to online banking is all you pretty much need.
-
Yep already got online banking and online bill pay so it should workout pretty good.
-
When the profit comes on the backs of the drivers, it's a bad thing.
Most important....watch your pay stub. Taxes are an issue with "contract drivers", the company (name on the side of the truck) pays very little and you are responsible for taxes owed on that large "non-taxable" total shown on your stub. Your W-2 will show something like...gross income $7,590.00, taxable income $1,500.00! However, in defense of Premium, they process pay based on the information given to them by the company you drive for but, there are legal guidlines they must operate within also.
Bottom line....keep every receipt drivers because you'll need them for deductions when your are ready to file taxes! The list of what is deductable ranges from duct tape to pillows!Last edited: Feb 18, 2011

Aren't lease drivers still on the Prime payroll? I thought Premium was for company drivers only.
It's been a while now since we switched over, and I haven't had a single issue. In fact, the few differences I've noticed have been good things. -
Nah, we're on our own payroll. Another good reason to switch over to the lease side Mike...
Gets interesting though... as CEO of Ironpony Trucking, when I get pissed at my employee because his lead foot is costing me too much money, I have to hollar at myself - the driver-employee - who then gives "the finger" to the boss.
Need to contemplate how to fire myself, and then hire my evil clone self as a new employee. Maybe I can pay him less, and keep more for myself!!!

I understand that. But somebody has to process everything and issue a check / settlement. It was my understanding that Prime and/or Success Leasing took care of this and not Premium Staffing. Roadrider was making it sound like Premium had a hand in settlements for L/O's, hence my confusion towards his post.
I know what you're saying about being your own boss though. About 1/4 of my income for 2010 came from a business I run online. The only reason that figure wasn't higher is due to some dopey decisions by my employee (me).
