This is for Conway Freight (LTL). Doesn't being a driving apprentice count towards your seniority? Say I started as an apprentice a month ago and the company hired a new driver today. I would have seniority over the new driver correct? Someone at my terminal told me that Conway dropped that policy 2 years ago. He said that my seniority doesn't start until after the 90 days of being a driving apprentice is over and Conway hires me as a full time driver. I was told otherwise during the interview process that my 90 day probation period is taken care of during the 90 day apprenticeship. Therefore I have a head start on any new driver hired after my start date of being an apprentice, kind of one of the perks of being an apprentice. Which information is correct? If anyone can shed some knowledge on this it is greatly appreciated.

Your bid/board seniority date would start when you become a driver..

That's what I was told too. I also am the first to start out of 4 other apprentices and thought I would have more seniority than them...no its whoever gets their road test and receives their cdl first. Sucks because I already started and the last guy to start isn't til march...

Got clarification on this last night from one of our drivers that went through the program a few years back - the senior driver will be the first one hired as a driver. Might piss you off a little but once you've been here for a little while you'll understand it's the correct way..

Say there's a dockworker that's been here for a while and four years down the line he becomes a driver - would you want him to bump you because he's worked for Con-way two years longer than you have even though he's a new driver? The driver board is completely separate from anything else here as an employee..

It is what it is....im just glad i got on with con-way. every driver ive talked to has 14+ years so that says something about the company in itself. i already found out that grocery warehouses suck, but i was still gettin paid hourly no matter how long it took.

Im the most senoir apprentice at my con-way station. Ive been here for two weeks and they just hired two more apprentices(although ive only seen one so far) Its nice because ill have more of a chance for getting a run on the flex board over them and not the lowest man on the totem pole, but sucks because i have too wait an additional month now for the stupid class to begin when i was suppose to start this week because of the new hires
