New Century Transportation

Wanted to let everyone know that they have a couple of brand new Volvo 780's at the yard. Heard they are going to be trying those out and might start buying them for the teams and 670's for solo drivers

 

all right LT, stop spreading rumors just cause you saw a couple of volvo's. we also have a cpl of kw's and frtlnrs too. it is the dealers trying to get nct to buy. last time this was going on they didn't buy anything. rumors are they are looking to buy 200 new trucks and like i said rumors so far. we need lot more than 200. these so called "late model" trucks that they advertise are getting #### tired and costing a fortune to repair. they put off the IPO to go public last fall because of economy climate and industry outlook at the time. when we had volvo's before they gave up on them...lousy service on road and poor parts availability was what was said then. before we get any pay back I would really like to see new equipment of any kind. will say a lot for company financial health. lets hope. till then keep the band-aids handy.

 

Not spreading rumors Sarge... just telling everyone what I heard from other drivers so take it for what it's worth. I apologize if you think I am causing any trouble. Not my intention

 

Sarge is right... the rumor about getting new equipment is just that. A rumor. I hope it's true. If there is one major negative about the company it would be maintenance. I was in the shop for 14 hours on Monday and they fixed most of the stuff but didn't touch a couple of things. That was really aggravating

 

New Century needs to train their drivers a little better. I was near Reading PA one day maybe two months ago waiting for a over the road unit to back into a very easy loading dock with a 53' reefer, my goodness I counted 86 pullups! 86 freaking pullups to straightin out! Quit your job and go drive a cab. I said to the spotter , "your student needs more practice" and she tells me that the woman driving the truck backs up better then she does, thats why she got out , so she can watch and learn. I laughed right her. What a joke, these two people in a 80,000 pound rig that by the looks of it can't back up, good job new century.

 

First off, New Century doesn't hire or train students. If you don't have at least two years experience they won't even consider hiring you. And second off even if this was the case and these two were so horrible at backing, you're just gonna make the assumption that all 1000 drivers we have are that bad? All I can say is wow...

 

I'm still debating whether or not to believe the 86 pull ups. New Century has reefers Looney?

 

They do Hitman... reefers, heater boxes, dry van and even some tankers... I believe those are dedicated to air products

 

I think the number he made up was a little too far over the top.
