Hey everybody. Can anyone give me an idea of the training at schnieder after graduation from school. What is the length of the training, and how long before you go solo. Do you get home during training time, or will you be out for the duration. I am attending school now, and will be graduating in the next few weeks. Schnieder is one of my choices, unless i get hired locally. Any help will be appreciated

Schneider school is a week...in that week it's mostly classroom stuff and some on road training. You have to take a road test and a trip planning test at the end of the week. Then your off for the weekend and the next two weeks you go out with a training engineer. After the two weeks with the TE you have a final SQT exam that includes driving, trip planning and use of the qualcomm. Have to pass all but mainly the trip planning....for schneider that's a big deal. I have had a blast during training....they take care of hotel and meals except for dinner....transportation to and from training and to and from the facility. Training is paid...not much but it's better than nothing. The trainers are pretty good and the TE is really knowledgable when it comes to trucking.

thanks for the info. I feel a lot better about schnieder now, as i was thinking that i had to be with a trainer for 7-8 weeks like a lot of companies require.

So you never ride with a trainer that will show you the ropes and get you exposed to how things work??? to me that only sounds like orientation???

its amazing to me how every new truck driving rookie wants to get behind 80,000 lbs as quick as possible. do you honestly think 1-2-3 0r even 8 wks is enough experience? this is why we have all these regulations. inexperience

its amazing to me how many so called experienced drivers pass judgement on anybody who don't mean self imposed standards. I simply made a statement. For your information i have over 20 years experience driving tractor trailers. I was driving before cdl were required and licenses were class 5 for tractor trailers. The rease that i am going to school is to make sure that i have legal qualifications required by the state of georgia. There are some so called EXPERIENCED drivers that need to be retrained. No one is an expert at the game called driving. The minute anyone thinks they are,is the minute they need to get out of the truck and off the road

I was thinking about trying out Scheinder also, from what I read they're a good company to work for. Plus they have terminal in Edwardsville and St louis which are close to me.
