I know this seems obvious, but you can always call before you get there. This could save some stress and heartaches. I've had to call bases a couple of times to ask about what I could/couldn't bring in, and I've always found someone who was friendly and ready with the answers to my questions pretty quickly.

Is correct, since 9/11 every base has gone to this system so later than others. We go to a lot of different bases & some are worse than others, some you would swear you would never go back there again!!! So if you have a valid ID & paper work from your husbands company you can go with him on base.

My lead driver and I hauled a missile from Savanna Army Depot to Cleveland Air Defense site in 1969 with military escort. At Savanna, I had to wait in the guard shack. At Cleveland, both of us were taken to a motel while Army personnel used our self-unloading van trailer. We were treated with courtesy and fed in their mess hall. We had the usual national agency checks and atomic energy passes in effect at the time.

Prohibited practices
§ 392.60Unauthorized persons not to be transported.
(a) Unless specifically authorized in writing to do so by the motor carrier under whose authority the commercial motor vehicle is being operated, no driver shall transport any person or permit any person to be transported on any commercial motor vehicle other than a bus. When such authorization is issued, it shall state the name of the person to be transported, the points where the transportation is to begin and end, and the date upon which such authority expires. No written authorization, however, shall be necessary for the transportation of:
(1) Employees or other persons assigned to a commercial motor vehicle by a motor carrier;
(2) Any person transported when aid is being rendered in case of an accident or other emergency;
(3) An attendant delegated to care for livestock.
(b) This section shall not apply to the operation of commercial motor vehicles controlled and operated by any farmer and used in the transportation of agricultural commodities or products thereof from his/her farm or in the transportation of supplies to his/her farm.

Moral of the law...even if you are going with your boyfriend, and even if your boyfriend has his own authority, you should still have a company authorized statement in writing stating that you are allowed to travel in that particular truck. Have that in writing as well as your clean ID and I don't see why you should have any problem. Although it is all up to the guards in charge at the base. -
Nope! That's common practice. They could've confiscated it if they wanted to. An expired id is INVALID, even to purchase tobacco or alcohol.

I understand that it is invalid. They could have just handed it back to him and said it is no good. They didnt have to punch a hole through it in that particular place. But one thing is for sure. He had to renew it before he could buy any smokes. LOL.
