Trucker Barred From Road For Not Speaking English

I just gained a little respect for Nebraska State Troopers. Outstanding Job!

 

They need to find out who gave him his CDL and put
them "out of service"

 

Absolutely!!!!!! Outstanding job by the troopers, 2 thumbs up! How in the world could you get a CDL, much less a drivers license if you can't speak the language? Talk about "National Security", thank goodness someone's earning their pay check!!

 

And here I am worried that I might fall behind in CDL training because English is my 2nd language! LOL

I wonder how the troopers made the guy understand that he couldn't continue driving. And along with everybody else I wonder how he got his CDL in the first place. Bought it from the Russian mob, I bet. Anyhoo... I'm glad they took him off the road!

 

I wonder if they will start having and English test along with your CDL test now.

 

I am a legal resident, and if I remember correctly, I had to submit my TOEFL (Test of English as Foreign Language) result - along with a bunch of other paperwork - to get my greencard back in 1999.

This guy can't be a legal immigrant, IMHO. I would call INS on him and the law on his employer!

 

That's very a interesting point you made there. Maybe he was illegal and was forced to work on the road as a driver. Wow, I wonder how many more are out there?

 

I remember going into INS in DC for one of my many visits to get my Green Card - when at the counter, the first question was if I could speak English, my answer was "no" - I'm an Australian" - the word Australian must have been heard along the line of booths as just about every INS officer there stuck their head out of the booth to look or maybe that some one actually answered in "sic" English.
My last interview before my work permit was issued, one question was "whether I was impressed with America" - the answer was a blunt "NO" - asked why - answer was "there was nothing here that impressed me, nothing Australia did'nt have" - was given permit to work!
