not talking about 23 stops in Texas, your not going to do that in one day. I am talking about unloading driving two hours, doing five pickups in Houston by 3pm with customers that don't care if you get loaded or not and then driving back to Lubbock by morning to do it all over again, three times a week. You get all that done your keeping the door shut and keeping your but in the drivers seat. LTL drivers don't get their slacks dirty and have soft hands, were talking about hauling scrap and steel, you know dirty flatbed work, what separates the men from the boys.

ya ok I dont get dirty :biggrin_2559: I hand unload furniture that weighs 10 times what I do while the 70 year old store owner stands there and watches...

you right I dont know anything about getting up at 4am and busting az$ all day to drive 300+ miles and do 10+ stops at places barely big enough for a straight truck let alone a 53 with a sleeper. and then still try to find a place to park out in BFE.

I'll take a few hours at a shipper vs. a 14 hour day of running around with furniture.

He may be young and inexperienced, but it sounds like he was smart enough to go to work for a better company than you did.

How is that you were broke running 3800 miles a week? That works out to almost 200,000 miles a year. Even if you only made .25 a mile, that's almost $50K.

I got my Class A CDL March 28th 2008, and I may be young and far from the most experianced driver on here but I know ALLOT about trucking. Which you'd know if you read my 2500+ post...most of which are in the questions from newbies section HELPING them...

But like you said you keep running illegal because THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE MONEY IN TRUCKING RIGHT? :biggrin_25513:

For the OP"s question,Sure I have run hard,(still do)and sometimes illegal, though not illegal much anymore...-I can honestly say that although I have had my share of pigs wearing the disguise of brokers and dispatchers,I have never done what they have wanted if it was,is way over the line.,I think because that even as a child,it has always been in me to not be taken advantage of..Have I been fired for this?-Nope-But,have realized twice it would be in my better interest to move on..We cannot change the world at large, but we CAN and should control our own little piece of it.(the world)
