to steal US truck is really easy. No immoblizer. And unfortunatly it is possible to add immobilizer to Volov engine and Mercedes engine. They both use Megamos 5 bite transponder. and If you loose keys you get into the real problems.

If you have caummins you can use Road Relay to put start up password, but if thiefs has Cummins Insite software on theirs laptop they may disable password.

As simple preventive system, use car alarm.

I have an air cuff lock. But it doesn't fit on the Prostar. The brake knobs are set in about 1/4 inch too far for the lock to close over them.

That's why an ignition interrupt switch might be a better idea. All it would take is a toggle installed somewhere between the steering column (or where ever your ignition switch is) and the power source. Flip it off, no power to the ignition.

Any security measure can be overridden if the thief wants it bad enough and has the time to fool with it. I guess my idea is just throw more stuff at them than they'd want to deal with and make your vehicle less attractive than the next one. I know it sounds cold and selfish, but I can only provide for my own security. I can't take care of 3 million other trucks on the road....when the technology is available and simple steps like turning it off, locking it up and taking the key with you are not followed. Most of the trucks that have been stolen were left idling with the door unlocked and were stolen within minutes of the driver walking away from it.

Yes, there are instances like what the O/P described. They are the exception rather than the rule. Thieves want an easy target in most cases. Just don't be an easy target.

    Wadda???

I think you are asking if the Cali DOT can ticket you if your trailer (MT or not) is not padlocked>>>Quit sitting at the luch counter and turn your CB radio off, you're listening to too many stupid truck driver stories.

Ignition interupt switch is for dumbest thiefs. It is so easy to jump ECM power relay in fuse box with paper clip. From the other side ECM pin assigment is not top secret info. To jump 12V wire to ign. wire of ECM is easier , and to jump starter with old rusty screw driver....

The Club is a joke. Theives just cut through the steering wheel to get them off.

A trainer of mine had a special switch he installed on his dash. It was a momentary on switch. The 2 wires ran out under the hood. There they were spliced into the ignition wires coming off the key switch. By catching them under the hood, the theif could not start truck by hotwiring under the dash. The special switch had to be pushed in when turning the key to start the engine. He had a label made up for the switch. It said "Alarm Test". What theif would even consider touching that button?

Here's another thought for O/O's. My motorhome has an electric battery disconnect switch. How about installing one of these. You can mount the switch part in any good hiding place in the cab or sleeper. Just disconnect the battery this way when parking for home time or any bad neighborhoods.

Thanks for the info. I was looking at the "War Lock" Air valve lock but it looks like it might be a pain to put on and take of constantly. I can get one for about $80 bucks. But I also found a company "CGM Security Solutions Inc." that sells a more expensive $330 bucks that replaces the entire system with a metal plate that bolts to the dash, and has a key built into their custom Air Valve Lock Handle.

Is it a pain in the butt to put the War Lock on and off all of the time?
I like the idea of a starter switch. I am definately gona also go that route!
    Thanks.
