3 Dog Nite! I like that Idea, simple but effective. And simpler than doing a Starter switch. Thanks.

One manufacturer of this switch is Cole-Hersey. Don't know if they have a website.

BlackW900 and I were looking at these War-Locks but only found them for close to $100. Where did you find them for $80?

I think this solution is the best "return on investment" idea out there.
You'll never really stop someone from stealing something but if we can slow them down a bit, thats what counts....the longer it takes a thief to play the greater the chance of being caught and they know it.

Keep the insurance up to date and hope for the best too...I have my rig insured at "Actual Cash Value" instead of "Stated/listed value"...

    Install a kill switch.

Our transfer dumps have them on the rear because this is how we have to reconnect our trailers. Once we line up with the drawbar on the trailer, we shut the truck off in reverse, get out, hit the kill switch, and bump the starter with the start button on the rear of the truck. This allows the truck to roll backwards without starting. If we forget to disengage the kill switch, the truck will not start from inside the cab. I hit mine whenever I park and walk away from the unit.

However, they could have been after goodies inside as well.

Its not too much of a pain in the ### to use, it takes an odd looking key, me and my dad both use them after mine was taken on a little joyride.....just throw the key in and turn it and it comes apart, when your done set both brakes and you just put it together and push the lock down....only way to get it off would be to severely damage the dash....IMO its worth it for the little extra security you get with it, but as stated earlier, if they want it bad enough....there gonna take it.:biggrin_25510:

    Hanadarko:
Here is the link for the War-Lock for $77.50. http://www.semi-locks.com/
But I decided after talking with CGM Security to go with their product. It is more expensive, but after looking at the video on their web site, and talking to Eric, I think the extra $ are worth it. He explained a great deal to me about how easy it was to defeat the War-Lock in under 30 seconds. I am still gona do the Starter interrupt switch on the dash and label it "Alarm-Test". I really like that Idea. Here is the CGM Link. http://www.airbrakesecurity.com/howitworks.html. This company also makes the locks we use on the Conex containers we ship to Afgh, and Iraq. And I have seen their products and there pretty solid. Yea.. So its about $200 more for it than the War-Lock, but piece of mind is worth it. Next I am doing the box that allows the police to track it if it is stolen. Plus, I get a discount on my insurance if I have both.

    Hanadarko Thanks this.

    Thanks! :biggrin_25514:
I looked at those last month. I recall that site from Florida. I will give Eric a ring Tuesday and 'chat' with him. As long as the unit can be operated (disengaged) WITHOUT needing the key all the time, then I would prolly purchase it. I'm only interested in having it LOCKED when I park it for the night.

$329 plus $9 shipping plus $7 credit card transaction fee. :biggrin_25523:
Would be awesome if we could get a 'group buy' going for this.....

It's called LoJack and it runs right around $700. They come to you to install it. You give them the keys to your truck and let them alone with it. They don't even want you to know where it is. I have one in mine.
