what do you base those numbers on that below 195 is not healthy for him? do you use BMI?
what would you say to a guy who is around 5'8 and weighs around 195 lbs?
you can base people on their height and wight to decide whether they re healthy or not or over weight or under weight

When someone is over the 6foot range, unless they're an ectomorph, or have cut weight for an upcoming fight, they should be over 200lbs. I have yet to come across any mesomorphs or endomorphs in that height range, that would be that light and healthy.

    2 things have come to mind;
    1. Some processed foods have things in them that make us want more foods; MSG is one. That's why Asian food makes you hungry, it has lots of MSG, even when they say it doesn't. (Its in sauces, soups, gravies, dressings, etc.)
    2. Maybe you need some healthy oils; a little virgin olive oil, or some REAL butter. Margarine is said to be one molecule away from being plastic; doesn't digest well nor get utilized well. But a little butter can be good for us. And there's different qualities of real butter, some taste way better than others. Very fulfilling.
    Blessings to you.

I have never been more grateful for replies. Ever.

I know something about me is unhealthy but I'm not sure what. My eyes go to 20/30 or 20/40 vision after eating sugar or food that easily converts to sugar. So I'll check my BS and it will be 95-115. Maybe 130 at the very most. I've had 20/10 vision my whole life. I'm very sensitive to this temp condition.

My family thinks I look sick or on drugs at my current weight but I was 240-265 for 18 years and I knew as I approached 40 years old that weight would be harder to control...

I will post a pic tomorrow.

I got the Livestrong app for iPhone and I'm tracking all that I eat and am back down to 1600-2000 calories a day and I feel better and have had zero episodes from my vision.

Thanks to all.... I hope this helps you get a better picture of what's going on here...

You have normal blood sugar. An an eating disorder called Anorexia Nervosa. Yes, men get it too. Go see a doctor.

If the digestive system isn't gett'n the job done, it can affect the eyes (constipation, IBS, or something called leaky gut system.)

Has anybody been paying attention here? This guy is 6'2", weighs under 200#, has himself on a less-than-2,000 calorie diet, his family says he looks like death warmed over, he is mortified of being overweight, perceives normal weight for his height to be fat, is having symptoms of malnutrition and refuses to go to the doctor because he thinks his normal BGL is diabetic. Rather than listen to reason, he is placing himself back on a starvation diet, despite his emaciated condition.

This is an unhealthy obsession with weight and calorie count. Not knowing any other facts or having met him in person, my layman's opinion is he is anorexic. It sounds like his body is already starting to use muscle tissue to survive because he has already used up all his fat stores. His vision is being affected due to malnutrtion. Judgment will be next and then what....fainting spells? Y'all want to continue giving weight-loss advice to this guy? Or encourage him to seek help? What if it's your kid driving next to him when (not if) he has a fainting spell?

Not enough body weight is just as unhealthy as too much, but for different reasons.

I am an RN and read everyone's posts here.....

First I have to agree about your weight and height- 6'2'' and 200lbs is thin unless you are very small framed. Going by the weight charts now a day (was an old insurance standard BTW) is outdated and BMI (even though I do not agree) is the standard. Your BMI is 25.7 for the exact measurements you have given. This actually falls slightly into the obese range-again why I do not agree with BMI.

First if you are an UNDIAGNOSED ''diabetic'' why are you checking your BG's?
With out the knowledge of what you are really looking for or why and if you were not directed by a medical person to do this I feel you are keeping track of something you really don't need to be and you could be setting yourself up for more problems down the line. Same as keeping the calorie count. I have to agree with Injun here, that is does seem a bit obsessive and you could be heading towards some eating disorder. That is common in people who have lost weight and do NOT want to gain it back-go the opposite way and do not eat or go on a starvation/restricted diet. As Guys lady said about your caloric intake-I use this as a rule of ''thumb'' : multiply your weight by 10+2 if sedentary, x10-3-4 if moderately active, x10+5 or so if very active to get your calorie counts. That says if you are moderately active for 200lbs you should be taking in about 2600 calories a day to maintain your weight.

A healthy diet is one that does not LACK in any of the food groups-NO foods should be taken off -moderation is the key. You can ''overdose'' on something as simple as water....
Eat 5-6 smaller meals through out the day instead of 3 meals-this will keep you feeling full and might help with the food cravings you are having. Mix all food groups- but each meal should have protein and carbs -your food energy sources. NOT all carbs are bad either....a banana is a carb just so you all know. You need to READ food labels and understand what is IN THE FOOD you are eating. Look at the serving size, look at the sodium, sugar, fat, cholesterol and carb content of the foods.
BTW -A heart healthy diet is 2000mg sodium daily (not much if you start reading labels)

As to the cravings- I have to agree your body is telling you that you have OVER restricted. Our bodies are AMAZING at telling us when something is wrong but we learn to ignore those warning signs. Please as everyone here has said, seek some advice from a dietician or specialist! There is nothing wrong with wanting to be healthy and I applaud you for that, but as you see from the many posts....we don't want to see you start to slide down a slippery slope.
