Being flexable, and not being a whiner, take what they give you, good and bad. Staying out a month at a time also helps. The economy also plays a big part. Just do a good job at whatever you do, be the "goto guy" on your FM's board. That is what to do, but you will still have a bad week now and then, that is just trucking.

Best thing you can do is send your hours every day and your start of day. if the planners know what you are working with they can fit better loads to you. Keep your RDO correct, and communicate any changes. I don't care what the situation is, delay at the shipper, cons, you're tired, just communicate. Staying out longer can help but take advantage also, if a load goes near the house and has time on it break at home, it will help you from going crazy.

If your FM isn't getting you the miles you need ask for a meeting with him and his FOM and maybe even the Ops Manager. Turnover is a major issue, maybe they'll try a little harder or place you with a different FM. Bottom line is if you don't take care of yourself nobody will.

I always did better miles wise on the hometime fleet. Not overall mileage but better miles per day. Whenever I stayed out longer than a week I got short on hours and got jerked around a couple of days or had to do a reset in BFE. I never stayed out a month. I figured if I had to stay out that long to make money I need a new career. Back in the day trainers could leave out of Marshfield on a Sunday night go out to CA and be back by Friday night. Trainers were making 70k on 30cpm and home every weekend. Those days are long gone though.

Killing them at the start of this week:) #### truck sitting here about a mile from the truckstop. Transmission won't go into gear, perhaps shifter stuck in the middle or something else, awaiting someone to come out and try to get her running again. Got a decent load out of the gate, picking up in Crossett, AR and heading to Palatka, FL so at least some continued warm weather.
