I screwed up and got a DUI on 07/2007 My conviction date was 05-2008 I really want to start a new career driving trucks OTR. Are there any companies that would hire me. I have nothing on my record except for the DUI. I have heard that some will hire with a 3 yr old DUI?? Thanks for any info. I'm in Southern PA area

Many of the recruiters I have talked to want that DUI to be 5 years old at least.

Keep in mind this: CDL holders are held to a higher standard. If you are caught driving your personal vehicle with a BAC of .04 they will pull your CDL and suspend it for 1 year.

To speak honestly, if you have a dui, a professional driver may not be the best career to pursue.

That will stay on your record and always be a competitive disadvantage for the best jobs.

I make decent money in my career, but I have been dealing with the public for 20 yrs, and have always thought about driving trucks.. I keep getting so many different answers, on the time frame through my research. I know a DUI is serious, but I guess I was wishing to much pursuing a career in Trucking??

And you will KEEP getting different answers,as there are as many different personalities in trucking as blades of grass..,or,if you live in the north, snowflakes which keep coming down. Really friend, trucking has many, many different options, and you have to find your own way through it,through trial and error, kinda like life. For your dui.,I still have 2 from 25 years ago biting me in the #ss,but,in your case,I am sure you can,you will just have to try a little harder.
