    Got one running outside my door right now. When I got here in July we had dirt strip. C130s landing nearly every day. They have been paving the strip for 7 months. About 2/3s done. Lot more planes now. Soon C-17 and C-5 Galaxy s. Still dozens of choppers of all kinds all hours, but the fixed wing traffic is picking up fast. Not 5 folks of the 10,000 in this valley could afford a plane ticket on Southwest if they were $15. for 2. Could borrow money from local warlord. They say the paving is for locals but I think it is just one more place to watch Iran from.

    I used to live near Dover AFB in Delaware, and had C5's and C17's fly over my house all the time. It is truly amazing how an aircraft that HUGE is able to fly.

    used to get my windows rattled by c-5s in the arctic--although not terribely loud they have an odd pitch--
    if you ever get a chance--take a peek inside--very amazing connsidering its getting to be an old aircraft
