Sorry for your loss 1026. If you ever shower at the K.C. terminal, the shower across from the transflo machine has so much water pressure, it will blast the shower head right off the tube, and land on your toe. It is a good shower, just watch your toes!
The Dallas Terminal (Hutchins) has a brand new Kwik-Trip truckstop across the highway.
It is possible to get stuck in California, but I was lucky and got immediate turn around with a 2000 mile load. But my dispatcher did warn me, I might get stuck there.
Sears loads to Riverside, MO are scheduled for p/u at 0400, and delivery at 1800, same day. You sleep on there dock, so bring food and drink.
Not all trucks properly warn you when the battery is about to die. Test it at a terminal first. Run the radio, and anything else you can think of with the truck off. See if it shuts down before completely draining the batteries. Then make sure it will restart. If not, get it fixed. With Knights aggressive anti-idling policy, make sure your truck is in good shape before it lets you down somewhere. -
OK back from the funeral last Tuesday, just as the snow storm & freezing cold was setting in. Needless to say last week was a short one & so were the miles. Again though I have to give credit to Knight & their concern to do the right thing in getting me home & the truck sitting 6 days. The miles for that week break down as follows; 630 + 240 + 31 + 315= 1216 +$182.00 in misc pay.
For this week & I've been through the house twice and is as follows; 229 + 49 + 835 + 1090 + 321= 2524
Thank you all for your condolences. -
Last week went as follows; 56 + 1 + 1343 + 188 + 417 + 525= 2530 + $48 detention.
I look at that and it doesn't seem like I got the miles in. I get an incredible amount of "Free Time" to do whatever. Last weekend I spent the night 1 block from Rodondo Beach. Watched the sunset & the next morning had my coffee on the beach as a pod of dolphins went swimming by....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_02g75dZcwE -
keep us posted on Knight. I may look in the reefer side of the house. How is the equipment and do they have APU's or some stupid idle policy ? Very good post you are doing.

The equipment is good. I drive a '08 Pete 388. They do have an idle policy as they do not operate APU's. No idle above 32 or below 75.
The heater plug in my truck will run you out 'cause it can keep it extremely hot if you set it on high. It does adjust & I keep it comfortable for me. No problems in the cold weather. I haven't had to experience the A/C yet while I rest. -
Thats not too bad. 32-75 is about right. I went to the web sight and could not find anything on pay or bennie's

Good to hear anything positive nowdays. How is the colubus terminal?

Hey 1021(or anybody else). Is it possible to make 50k a year, after a couple of years, as a driver with Knight? About a grand a week? I am a newbie, thinking about going into the reefer division. And hey, does anybody know if that reefer motor keeps you awake when you are in your bunk? P.S. 1021, nice dolphin photos, you mentioned that it was in Rodondo Beach.. did you mean Redondo Beach in Cali? Thanks all!

Speaking for myself, it took me a little while to get used to the reefer noise. I started using earplugs when I wanted to sleep. After a while it got to where I didn't need them anymore. I still keep a pair with me even though I only pull a reefer for maybe a month outta the year. I have a Webasto for the bunk so they sometimes come in handy when parking between idling trucks.
