With the university president saying he is doing an investigation --- apparently, there is pushback from the college newspaper ...

    ALSO ...

On the Fox News Chicago TV station (WFLD Channel 31) just now (12:15:33 Hours, CST 4 March 2011 Friday) the guy who was operating the F***saw told a reporter that NO ONE at the lecture was forced to watch, they could have gone out the door before the scenario started. For those who stayed NO ONE seemed to be thinking it was gross or that they were sad or disturbed they had to watch. ALL people were interested and appreciative of the demonstration.

The students are over the age of 18 enrolled in a class detailed as human psychology and human sexuality in a licensed educational facility, do not need written parent consent, and had multiple warnings detailing what would be happening and the president of the university had knowledge of what would be happening. The participants/actors were not paid professionals and students did not physically participate in the event either.

In terms of educational experience and comprehension, the more graphic and engaging "Live" the material is, the better the results. whether the topic is sex, war, finances and consumerism, physics, science, chemistry, driving, architecture, construction, mechanics, etc.....

The school is well within their right and were responsible and professional. The only thing that needs to be addressed is ways to ensure that when moral and ethical boundaries are going to be pushed, that the school is prepared to respond to unexpected situations.

the professor was hesitant upon the request to demonstrate this physically, it was initially suppose to be just live models and artifacts. Besides re-asking and warning students over and over, if the professor had a higher staff official there to seek a second opinion from who could say yay or nay, they could have declined to let things become more graphic than the lecture was intended.

It really wasn't all that long ago when still black and white pictures weren't even allowed, and when just talking about the subject was prohibited in all institutions anywhere and doctors were not allowed to even look at a ######.

Cultures naturally swing from excessively liberal to excessively conservative all through history. In ancient Rome this lecture probably would have involved 12 year old boys and the past 100-200+ years no one would ever be allowed. Modern society just so happens to be swinging back to the more liberal side at least for this century in this nation.

I won't say if the professor was ethical or unethical, but the school has every right to hold such lectures and the students have every right to learn by choice of free will as a grown adult of responsible age. And while I wasn't there personally, from the reports I've seen everyone took great care to be respectful professionals.

I have to disagree. Most parents are paying for their kids education and do have a say in the matter. There isn't any job where this would be beneficial other than the Dr. Ruth show. Sex is suppose to be an intimate act just opposite of what they were teaching. The only one to gain any knowledge was the little fat kid in the third row with broken glasses. :) It was nothing but a free show any pervert can see at the local XXX book store. I'm sure she'll be titled the campus slut now.

That's assuming the parents are paying for the education, and it also assumes that parents mistakenly believe it's the school is just a paid daycare center for young adults. If the school must have some sort of educational equity partnership agreement where everyone who puts money into it has a share and fair equal right to all decision making, then the staff can be sure to make sure parents are notified too.

And what profession would anyone need a class on human sexuality and psychology other than someone getting some sort of psychology degree in the first place. If the student feels it is irrelevant to their interests or goals then they should have the right to opt out of the class. But then all too many students wish they could do that now days when schools force students to take irrelevant courses in life.

I honestly wish I could have sat in on that class just so I can observe the student's as they observed the demonstration. Psychology and sexuality related topics have always been major focuses in my life in my spare time even up to today despite me becoming more interested in economics.

Sex is what you make of it. Every person approaches it differently and holds it with a different level of respect than the next person. For me fighting is intimate because for most of my life I based my relationships with other people based off of how "physical" I could get with them. And since I have experience working at the Playboy Mansion in Beverly Hills for about a year, I've seen a wide spectrum of sexual behaviors and activities.

The only sex I would consider intimate would be between me and my girlfriend, and quite frankly, I get more turned on just by making out with her than anything else. But then most schools ban public display of affection which includes kissing and holding hands anyways, no reason why colleges shouldn't ban that as well.
