OK, after waiting less than an hour we got a message to head 150 miles East to Aurora NE to get a repower that we are taking to Hayward CA. Very nice little run of 1500 miles plus the empty 150 miles to get here. We are waiting at the Loves in Aurora as the drop will not arrive until about 2:00 AM. Since we are still bobtailing, we ran into Grand Island to a Best Buy (one of a total of 4 Best Buys in this State) and bought a TV for the truck. Anne is in back watching tv while I type this and she is happy.......and when Momma's happy.........

Colder than all get out here.

I'm glad your truck is fixed and you're heading down the road again. Is having a new truck like having a new car......it doesn't have the kinks worked out yet?

Yep, we had a few issues. Check engine light came on again when we were crossing into Wyoming. I was on hold with Breakdown when it went off again. They told me to just keep running unless I start to lose power. I believe that is a license to drive:biggrin_25525:

We are home for a few days off. We have been running hard and we are loving USX. We have met so many great people. It sure helps having a wife who makes friends everywhere she goes. We also have a great Fleet Manager. I know that we are pretty lucky on that accord. A bad fleet manager can make your life miserable. I will update pretty regularly and please feel free to send me a message if you have any questions.

Try to make sure you do almost all of the driving (at least during the first half of your training) and make sure you get to do the backing. Sometimes you are both tired and your trainer will want to do the backing so it will just get done quickly. Ask to do it yourself. Do everything yourself, dealing with the shippers, the consignee and all company departments. Best of luck and feel free to ask any questions you have.

Also, get your ProTread lessons done this weekend if you can. Make sure you do PreTrip and Winter Driving also. They are not on your list but they are required for upgrade. if you do not do them now, you will have to do them at Tunnel Hill.

    keeponmoving1964 Thanks this.

Do they have you drive the whole 11 hours right away or do they do it in moderation so you get used to it. I know I have to do 150 Hours of drive time before my upgrade , but of course I want to do it safe.

That would be your trainers responsibility. You will be very tired at the end of each day. I am pretty sure yout trainer has the will to live so he should not push you beyond your capabilities.

Also, if you are considering driving as a team, Anne put a post on our blog this morning about living together in 45 square feet of space.

Well, it is kinda nice to be needed. Here it is Sunday night and we have gotten a number of calls from dispatch. They need a load delivered in California and they want us to do it. Anne has an appointment she needs to make tomorrow morning but if they can push back the 6:00 AM Tuesday delivery a couple of hours we can do it. They said our FM will call us in the morning.
