I hope they find this killer and have to shoot him for resisting. You know Truman Smith was a former Marine. I have a feeling that, if he had been carrying, there would have been two bodies at the scene. This, and the Jason Rivenburg story, are just 2 examples of why, IMNTBHO, drivers need to be able to carry.

Little known fact. The USPS is not supposed to deliver ANY mail to an address unless the street number is posted outside of the building or residence! Go Figure!
You would also think these college educated CEOs and people who work for any place that has trucks in all the time would have a sign at the end of the driveway with name and street number! Not to mention one on the back door if in one of those strip mall type of warehouses! Or even a stupid sign that says "TRUCKERS ENTER HERE" or "Bring paper work" here or the cheapest one they can pay for that says one of two words..."Receiving or Shipping" and every trucker in the world will know which door to walk to!
There are MORONS running 80% of the warehouses and factories in America! They call truckers stupid but expect us to know which driveway to pull into as if the old saying "truckers know where everything is!" actually holds water!
I'd say for the next couple of months if there is NO address number next to the delivery or pickup driveway or a company name on a back door then do not deliver the freaking load untill these cheap arsed companies can spend maybe $10 at an Ace or home depot for those reflective numbers, a pieces of 2'x'2 plywood and 2 stakes to nail it all together to 1) keep this kind of thing from happening ever again, 2 keep traffic from getting screwed up because idiot company owner or manager doesn't have the intelligence to put up that one thing most needed to find their docks and building and 3) because the USPS says it's needed and they also need to get on this and because they are having financial problems so don't deliver to them either untill they spend all that money needed to identify their location!
It will also help the emergency services to locate they entrances in case that CEO is having a heart attack!
Yeah if you are out in BFE and they are the only building on the road that's not a problem but in heavy industrial areas go drive down the street and see exactly how many places you have to really look at to see who they are! Now get behind a truck and cuss his arse for stopping at all of them as he's trying to figure that problem out also! it's not always the ones who have been they before making that pick up and delivery!
How freaking hard is it to do something smart?
One other thing is to have someone (a trucker) write the directions down from the nearest interstate or major highway intersection so someone can read them off to a prospective driver coming to your location! Have landmarks and descriptions! If they can't speak english well then put it on your automated phone system spoken by an english speaker, a spanish speaker, Russian, Chinese, and on and on ! Or go put a sigh up at the driveway! OR on the company website down load the satellite picture and put an arrow on where the dock is to YOUR dock! Put it on your web page! How simple can it be?
But really if you are located in pithole areas like E ST Louis, Chicago, NYC, LA, DFW, Atl, Miami and others put the freaking numbers and hours on a simple little sign that can be read from the street! This isn't rocket science or brain surgery!Giggles the Original, GuysLady and outerspacehillbilly Thank this. -
You left one out.. How about putting the same name on the BOL that is on the sign or building? I get a lot of deliveries where the names are not the same.
GuysLady, Rollover the Original and Giggles the Original Thank this.
