When you say "local logs", I think you mean basically a time sheet. As in start time and finish time, truck number etc, right ? I've never seen more than one kind of log. Sounds like they were, or are about ready to be audited and have been told to fill out regular logs. Just say, "Yes Sir, Mr. Bossman, am I on the clock when I do this"?
Working Class Patriot Thanks this. -
don't know about audit, could be. yes it is the log where you put start and finish time, less than 100 radius. when they had me do these logs i told them it could only be 12 hours, we work 14 hours. now they tell me since it is 14 hours i have to go back and do all my logs on long form(road logs) and that is a good idea to charge them hours.

maybe where you sign them you ought to put the actual date that you are doing them too, just to protect yourself! I think I would darn near refuse to do it without something from them in writing telling me to do it and why.

can u say logbook falsification? i wouldnt do it !!!

Many years ago, like 1985, I had a boss who made me redo a couple of months' logs because I never used to "bracket" the periods of less than 2 hours. What a pain. I found another job not long after that. After a stint with one outfit that was totally anal about logbooks, it's just a habit now to fill in every space and log every stop and try not to do anything that would make them want to investigate further.

that is the second part of the question is it falsification. what kind of trouble could a person be in. how would you find out if it is going to get you in trouble thanks everyone

If you are staying within the 100 mile radius, returning to the base terminal everyday...you don't need to make a "road log". Especially one that will have no correlation to stops you made each day...can you really accurately do a log of the events you did one month ago...let alone more than a month ago?
How will you go to a "road log" showing 14 hours on duty and the 10 hour break each day? If you can't be accurate on these "replacement logs" you are signing and turning in a false log...it is YOU that will get clobbered by DOT...the company will too...but YOU will take a bigger hit than the company! -
In 395.1 the 100 air mile exemption reads this way:
(e)(1) 100 air-mile radius driver. A driver is exempt from the requirements of Section 395.8 if:
(e)(1)(i) The driver operates within a 100 air-mile radius of the normal work reporting location;
(e)(1)(ii) The driver, except a driver-salesperson, returns to the work reporting location and is released from work within 12 consecutive hours;
To be able to run an "Exempt" log you have to:
- 1) stay inside the 100 air mile radius
- 2) return to the yard and clock off within 12 hrs
If you are working 14 hour days as you said, you must keep regular log books.
