Exercise is also important in keeping glucose levels steady.

Glycemic index is the rate that carbs are digested by the body not the sugar content. Baked potatoes will have a higher GI than boiled potatoes as they have more starch. The GI is based on glucose at 100. White anything, including rice, will have a higher GI than brown anything as brown foods have more fibre which slows down the absorbtion of sugars.

Just found out the company my husband JUST got hired on at... ONE week ago, got underbid by another company for where they load... Now they will be moving the jobs and he can stay on but will have to be gone 2-3 weeks # a time. I feel sorry for him, he is going to look in the mean time for something else... Guess he will really have to use that new fridge he bought to load up on healthy things for 2 or 3 weeks # a time.. It took the poor guy almost a year to get his exemption and now this... Main reason for this post is... How does one go about getting RX's ordered for 3 months # a time and will most insurance companies do that? Do I call them or the Dr. and have him write a script for that long? Thanks everyone, I know someone will come up with the answer...

Bugsy I did not mean rice actually but the whole grain version of rice like cakes. I see them all the time in whole foods and they are excellent on the diabetic scale. They have all different flavors and options for snacking.

carrots are low in sugar the snack bags minis are 4grams of carbs, grapes are 16 carbs for 10 grapes, I would do sugar free jello, any vegetable, tastykakes sensible snacks are sugar free, will still need to look at carbs, powerade zero drinks ,I would also pick up a carb counter book, from abookstore in there it will have all food and most fast food places meals so he can determine what he is taking in and control his number better.

your endo. will write the scripts, most prescription plans prefer you to do the mail in and i found it being cheaper for my son, usually takes about 5 days to show at your door once called in.

Honey nut Cheerio's make a great snack with out milk. I snack on em and the crunch keeps me awake and they taste great. I live on peanut butter, Nutella, apples, baby carrots, grapes, fiber one bars, nuts and trail mix. Dried fruits are awesome. Having a small crock pot works well for making some good dinners for yourself.
