I was thinking about what I have heard at Millis training and I'm not sure they will hire you if you live in Florida. Maybe north Florida. They don't go very far into that state because there is not much freight coming out of there.

Also, I saw a comment you made in another thread about paying $500 and owing $2000 but being OK after a year. You need to know that it was their old policy to forgive the $2000 after the first year. You will have to pay back the $2000 and will have to sign a promissary note agreeing to do so and to let them take $20 from each weeks pay. No interest is charged though. I was kicking myself because I didn't get started last summer before the policy change.

I too want the week vacation after 6 months and 2 weeks after 1 year with 5 paid holidays. Keep in mind that you have to do the per-deim pay to get that.

I almost went with CFI because they take $500 up front for their school and if you pass they finish your training after employment and subsidise the remaining $2000 even if you don't stay a whole year.

I've heard bad things with CFI. There some other company that pays loan off after first 1000 miles. I dont care about paying the $2000 it better then $4000 and Millis seems good which you going with?

 

I'm at Millis training now in Cartersville. Monday starts my last week. I should be in the truck and OTR with my trainer by the 15th.

How come their school dont help u get your cdl permit? Do anyone get a hotel room by their self an are the rooms nice

 

Millis seems to have good equipment. From what I've seen anyway.

 

Millis is small enough to be cool and big enough to roll ya. No company is ever going to be perfect and 2 different drivers will have 2 different experiences with the same company. One of my classmates is now driving for a 4th company and I just finished my first year with Millis, happy as can be. If you are on the beaten path Millis will get you home. They take home time seriously and will do yard drops, load swaps, deadheads and any other #### thing to roll you home. I was gigging with a band every 2 weeks and never missed a show. I had some girlfriends going to party in Dallas and half-jokingly asked for home time to Fort Worth and my dispatcher gave it to me. Does it get better than that?

You won't earn much during training but they treat their drivers right and have good gear and the best mechanics. If you have an issue with a trailer or your truck they are ON IT! I'm not talking about the guys running the shops BTW. Don't talk to them. Talk to the guys who actually do the work. They rock.

 

Im thinking about going to Millis and I was wondering if it was true that you got pick OTR or regional after you completed the training. I had heard that from a buddy. Im also looking into CRST and USA Trucks but so far Millis has had the best reviews.
