Yea, Prime told me they don't hire students from Central Florida. The "big fella" was recruited by an Owner/Operator that was going to train him and then run team together. Apparantly the O/O has some pull with Prime. Too bad it didn't work out for them.

Hey man whatever you decide at least you are going about your decision making the right way. It's great you are taking your time and doing some in-depth research about these companies. No matter what every company will have it's good and bad points. Your attitude and how you deal with it will make or break the deal! Would I recommend Swift? No, but there are many people who find that they coexist just fine there. Some of the best companies out there also have drivers who bash them up and down and say they suck, blah, blah, blah! So what it boils down to is your individual want and needs and how you can handle yourself professionally in a business manner. Good luck man keep chuggin at it.

I got the official Green Light today to attend Orientation with Con-way Truckload in Joplin, Mo on 3/28/11. I booked a Delta flight from Orlando to Oklahoma City(connecting in Atlanta) on 3/27/11. Then booked a ride on the Grey Dog from OKC to Joplin on 3/27/11. Including the cab fare from the OKC airport to the OKC Grey Dog station, a total of about $325. Leave Orlando at 05:30EST and arrive in Joplin at 15:55CST sameday. Con-way will reimburse me the cost of a bus ticket from Lakeland,FL to Joplin, MO which is around $200. Busing from Florida would have been 32 HOURS (Friday evening-Sunday morning) on the Grey Dog!!!
You don't wanna know how much it cost to fly from Tampa or Orlando to Joplin!

Smart move XLS! The hell with riding a bus that far! Most companies will reimburse you a bus ticket or cost of so it just about pays for a plane ticket. Most definitely worth it! Make sure to make a check list so that you don't forget anything. Good luck man, keep us updated, you'll have a blast!

Might even be there on the 28th as well. Did my interview with Christine this morning and she said they now have an opening on the 28th so I can move up. Hope to hear back early next week.xlsdraw Thanks this.

We resumed school today. This is our last week of school. Three of us were present today. During Spring Break, the "magician" moved back to Indiana. He intended to leave right after school ended, but he had a family member become gravely ill. So he's gone. The "big fella" was back in camp today. Things fell thru on his deal with Prime. Looks like he may end up with Windy Hill.
Today we never left the yard. The instructor had a few loose ends he wanted to tie up with us today. We practiced breaking down and rehooking Doubles and their connecting Dolly. We hooked up to a lowboy/step trailer. Then we lowered the ramps and drove a daycab up on it. We took a daycab and a 45' trailer and practiced the 45* docking. And I did a complete Pre-trip inspection today. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday we're gonna drive. And Friday we'll come in briefly to recieve our Graduation Certificates.
