I have a friend who applyed to primes training school. He had bone spers in his knee since he was in high school and played football and was on disability. a 9 months ago he had surgery and had this corrected and was able to work without pain. he also got his permit with me and liked what he was seeing with prime and applyed. they informed him that disability was not a source of income that they could count and disqualifyed him with no questions asked. I have no clue but i feel that this goes agenst the equal opertunity act. what are your thoughts on this. i feel that is they could do this to someone then they do not feel that everyone is equal.
Primeis agenst people who had disabilitys

If I were your friend, I'd be talking to an attorney. If he's had whatever disabled him repaired, then he should qualify.
wicked, nonstop, drvrtech77 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I agree with BHW here--I doubt thats a fight prime will want to challenge. Good luck to ya

Your friend ain't real bright. He should have kept his mouth shut when he was asked about physical disabilities.
The correct answer is:
"HECK NO DOC, I am in perfect health. I can do ANY job you throw my way. I am READY WILLING AND ABLE TO WORK!" <--- Read this sentence ten times in a row, as it applies to ANY job you ever apply for.
Of course they didnt hire him LOL. Honestly, would you want to hire somebody that is a disability claim waiting to happen?
Seriously, how hard is it to figure this kinda #### out? Do you honestly think just because your buddy had knee surgery Prime is required to hire him? Stop thinking like a welfare queen and walk a mile in their shoes.
BTW, spel cheekers are free...123456 Thanks this. -
You [he], doesn't need a lawyer. You [he] should just go down to the Unemployment Office, EEOC, or whatever it's called, and talk to them.
It's free, and effective.

A company protects itself by preventing claims. Now, someone who has already been through the disability system and been granted a waiver, sure... the company is covered.
Perfect example - worked with a guy in Spokane for a while, he employed an older guy - sharp guy, real clean, etc. We were talking about a load that had to be tarped - we usually avoided tarped loads because in that area, it was usually lumber and didn't pay well.
The guy told the boss that he didn't like throwing tarps because he had a shoulder and back injury a while back... he then told the boss that hell be ######, he'd keep working until it blew out, then go on workers comp. He wasn't realizing, I'm sure, that his CURRENT employer would be on the hook for the injury, claim, and payments.
He was asked to depart.
On another note - the disabilities act does not provide blanket allowances for anyone to do any job. Once your friend would have gone through the waiver process, roll with it. Until then, most trucking companies aren't set up, in any way, to handle someone with a disability who hasn't gotten a DOT waiver to drive. -
i think what prime was looking at was recent employment for past years and maybe not disability---mind you the way threylook at recent employment sucks as well---
tell him to go and try elsewhere---no big loss in not working for prime123456 Thanks this. -
Good thing they don't discriminate for spelling and grammar!

he has a waver and is 100% ok to work they as stated above are looking at the fact that he has not had a job due to the disabilty. the way i see it he wants to work (or else he would not have had it fixed) and due to the fact he was disabled he is not a trust worthy person. and there are many programs through disablity that help people over come there disabiltys and return to the work force. he is not upset at not working for prime he is upset that they said he wasnt good enough because he was disabled at one point.(i dont see them saying that but i see how he might thank that). It all comes down to the fact that they are saying he is lazy in my eyes and that by far is not the case.
