The attitude of entitlement in the trucking industry never ceases to amaze me. Why are you entitled to a free cup of anything just because you bought fuel? My wife just spent $500 at the grocery store what does that make her entitled to? My brother just spent $36,000 for a new pick-up what does that make him entitled too? Get a life the only thing you are entitled too for nothing is nothing. If a cup of coffee is going to break you then you are in the wrong line of work.

I have to agree with you here...It used to be that most truckstops would give you a free cup of coffee or soda with a fuel purchase, That was nice.
Before that a lot of truckstops would give you a free meal with a fill up....That was nice too.

These days you don't see that as much....It's unfortunate that they don't do it anymore but it is just the way it is.

I don't get too concerned about it because even when they did offer the free coffee and sodas I hardly ever took them anyway. I can afford a soda if I want it and I don't feel like I'm owed something for free just because I bought a product that I need to run my business.

$2.89 for a cup of joe!?!?!?!?!? Wholly crap that is some expensive coffee.

Most I pay to fill my travel mug is $1.60 and most places are $1.25. And that is in Canada.

The place I usually go have a card that you get stamped, every fifth cup is free. ( times out of ten the girl or guy working the counter give me 3 or 4 stamps for one cup.

And I don't need to fuel up to get that service.

    GET REAL...
    Entitlement attitude my #)#)#(%&
$800.00 for fuel and $3.00 for window washer fluid and 100% over charge on everything else in the TS please....yes they can afford to spare a cup of coffee....remember when it was FREE even IF you didnt fuel....

think of it as customer service PR...basically if the coffee aint free I wont fuel there....

I have enough mom and pop TS that I go to that are MORE than happy to let you have a free cup of coffee for paying the rest of the overpriced stuff in there....

Because they want your repeat business...

I can remember the Petro's having a huge coffee urn that you got your coffee from for free. They even let you fill your thermos too...

I do not see the big deal.

I can afford to buy what I want and do not concern myself with it.

It just depends on the individual I guess.

When there is healthy competition they need to entice people to use their services.

I often wondered why I couldn't get a jug of washer fluid with fills over 150 gallons in the winter.

It is common practice in all sorts of business. Even when I go in for a coffee they offer brownies at a reduced price with the coffee. Or free papers when you stay at a hotel.

If flying J or Pilot aren't offering this anymore, maybe it is being affected by the tightening of the belts just everybody else is. Like many businesses it is becoming increasingly difficult to make a buck.

lol, I don't think it's about entitlement, just change. What used to be free no longer is. Just wait until they charge you to use the squeegee, after all it does cost them money to supply that. Same thing goes for the air hose. Most gas stations charge for air now, it's only a matter of time until truck stops to do the same.
