First off I want to thank truckers report, this is an outstanding site full of info. Been researching on here for over a year trying to find the right company to go with for training. Due to the economy and being self employed(cabinetmaker) the funds are not there to pay for a trucking school, I have been looking at different in house training opportunities. So far Prime is at the top of my list. Just have to get self employment verification to satisfy them. Would like to hear from any drivers or even trainers for Prime in the pacific northwest. Thanks, Dieseldust

Welcome Dd. If you get a little spare time run over to our house...the better half is thinking it's new cabinet time.

Welcome,I'm a new driver with nearly 6 months on the road now after being a cabinetmaker for 35 years.
Lost a good paying job I'd had for 24 years,10 years of it doing sales/design/layout work.
I doubt I'll ever go back to cabinetmaking other than hobby or side work after retirement.
Pretty sad what has happened to the industry especially here in the PAC NW.
I was fortunate to have enough cash to pay for school, wish you luck brother,at least there is work for drivers unlike cabinetmakers. -
Plenty of spare time right now, hope that will change soon. are you in the Pac. NW?

Y2K, glad to hear from you, been following your posts since you began, they have been a great help. Things have changed a bit since I first posted here, while Prime is still my first pic for an all in one start ( you start there with just your permit ). Last Wed. the recruiter from the local college contacted me and said that there were grants now available for the schooling, so thus. and Fri. I spent all day jumping through their "HOOPS", filling out paperwork like crazy. If I get the grants I will then go to the local college for training, their course is 5 weeks and it covers all expenses including physical and lic. fees. It will cost me out of pocket the same as if I went to Prime but with no commitments attached. Opens alot more doors. I followed your exp. and others on the May site because they are utmost 1st pick. In fact I have already talked to Opal ( neat gal ). Right now they have a list of drivers waiting on trucks to open up but she said that in 5 weeks that could change. If all goes well and I am funded, I will start school on the 21st, one week from now!
