Don't count out the RFX/75, When it's done correctly with the limiter left intact and functional the scope pattern will suprise you. This is the latest one I have bought http://customcbradios.com/Cobra-Black-Chrome-Stealth-Radio-RFX-Version-P643685.aspx and I was shocked at how well it looked on the scope not to mention how clear and clean it talks with the 2 watt DK and swinging to 122 watts. This may have alot to do with the extra work that went into it and I can not honestly say I have seen a standard RFX/75 modded radio scope pattern.
Is RFX-75 really worth it

I have watched all of Dougs clips and wondered what they would show on a scope when another member was stating how bad a rfx75 is. I listened to Bulldog777 videos that he did between his 959 and lxle with the rf75 and its sounds great. Its the same radio as I am wanting but with a different face plate. Soon as my taxes gets direct deposited I plan on buying a 93t from a member on here and the 29 with the wx bt and nw. I would prefer to buy from Doug but Bells has one that only 289 on evilbay. I am to chicken to try and get Doug to price match him on the same radio. Thanks for saying something in the last post. I was only trying to help the guys on here. This will probly be my last post. I am sure I will be banned. But I was honestly just trying to help people on here like you did for me on the other forum.

I've thought about this all afternoon. What bugged me was why was this thing so dirty and all over adjacent channels when it was (supposedly) just a replacement of the driver and final (along with the matching components).
Yeah. The answer was the same as why a "peaked and tuned" Xceiver was so dirty. When installed correctly to a clean set I think it would do just fine. I'm gonna find out, anyway. I'm gonna order one and install and align it and see what kinda results I get. I've got a fresh out of the box Cobra LTD Classic that wants to be a Guinea Pig.
I've seen some discussions of the ERF7530 final and when kept within reason (100 watts or so peak) it should be a solid performer. It's only when attempts to wring every last milliwatt out of the set and the RFX that it gets so dirty.
So do I let William Shatner help me find one or do any of y'all know where the best price might be. They would have to take plastic. It takes too long to push money through Paypal to the end recipient. (I want what I want when I want it.)
I'll have to fire up my 'Gimmie' scope.
I won't be able to get absolute numbers off it but it'll do for peaking and checking splatter and modulation. Wish I still had my 465.

I wonder if you can also put in the motorala 2SC2999 and boost the recieve, Maybe theres a better one than that out now.

You do realize that a competition amp can be just as "clean" as an AB biased amp right? All an amplifier does is amplify the incoming signal and send it to the antenna. If your radio is tuned correctly and not throwing wattage all over the band your amp won't either. -
I have been doing this mod for many years it adds 6 db gain to the rf stageouterspacehillbilly Thanks this.

Leave ole willie to priceline. I know Doug has them in stock, May or may not be the best price but I bet if they are not they are close to it. I have seen a few on fleabay a couple months back. Let us know how your install goes.

Best amp for slip seating is a KL-203. 1 1/2-2 watt input will give you over 100 watts output. Cost about $60. It will give you great clean audio. And about the size of the palm of your hand.

They are neat little amps

Neat indeed, I have never seen that little guy but he sure is cute. I wonder how clean it would be with just a tuned/aligned radio pushing 6-7 watts.
