Watch out for this company out of Wisconsin. Ecklund Logistics sends its drivers out in some very unsafe trucks. When it comes time for D.O.T inspections they just put a sticker on it and send the driver on his way. Very unsafe trucks on the road putting everyone at risk. Many safety issues with lighting, brakes, and more.

Have you ever stopped at a scale and reported the problem or let them look at the truck?

The driver sends himself out in an unsafe truck, not the company. If you decide to drive an unsafe truck then you cant blame the company. Tell the DOT that yoour company made you drive the truck with all its violations and then come back and let us all know how that went:biggrin_25523:. The next thread will be, DOT screwed me cause my company made me drive an unsafe truck, now what shold I do:biggrin_25516:.

Are they a team operation? Reason I ask is I wonder who was there to hold the gun to your head to get you to drive their unsafe trucks?

and why does everyone always say , " stop at the scales". Maybe if not employeed by said company, but if employeed, your *** could be on the line from the DOT. Your the driver of the unsafe truck................

Who in their right mind would pull an unsafe truck into a scale house??? You are the driver, its your fault, no one made u drive that truck.

The best option is to take pictures of things that are wrong with the truck if it includes things like broken parts that would be deemed a safety hazard etc. Then document everything in writing and make copies of it all. Then tell them to either fix it or it will stay parked. If they terminate you for that, then you would be protected under the federal whislteblower protection act and they could be sued for retaliating against you. Just make sure to have again everything documented for record.

The federal Surface Transportation Assistance Act of 1982 makes it illegal to penalize a whistle-blower in any kind of transportation related complaint.

If you're going to do something about it, you'll need some real documentation that the brakes are defective, that you were dispatched over your objections. A bit of advice - contact an attorney who deals with employment matters before you do it, and make sure that you're going to be fianancially ok for awhile.
