Sounds like you're all having fun.
I'm on the yard. Dropped my load at Taylor Farms today (that place is always a trip), then got a message to come to the yard.
Got here and everyone's asking, "why are you here?"
Typical.
So I got to see mother. That went well actually. The 9# missing out of my rump helps me make my BMI weight standards.
Here's a new one. Don't know if anyone else has heard this, but it's new for me.
A sitting duck offense will now be treated like a U-Turn. No second chance, do not pass go, do not collect $200.
You are fired.
That is for ANY sitting duck offense.
Seems another company just got wacked with a $33MM judgement.
So.....
Hopefully they get my truck done quickly so I can get out of here tomorrow.
Won't be too bad. I was low on hours anyway.

parking on the side of the road. parking on an on/exit ramp
Dryver Thanks this. -
But there are times that are out of our control, that we have no choice but to be a setting duck.. a blown steer tire, engine failure... and truthfully, a blown trailer tire.
Dryver Thanks this. -
Thanks for the info guys, I figured that was what it meant but sometimes companies have their own 'language'.

There are times where you will technically be a sitting duck, but can't help it such as parking on the side of the street waiting your turn to enter a shipper. Sysco in Sacramento or Stockton is like that.
As long as you communicate, they will handle each case on an individual basis.
In the lawsuit case, the driver had pulled over onto the shoulder of an interstate to relieve himself. A car rear ended his trailer and now 33 million dollars later, we have a new rule at Stevens.
All these seemingly silly rules are borne out of the annuls of lawsuits.
Maybe we should sit the lawyers on the shoulders and let the truckers hit them? -
Its amazing that a motorist can't see a frickin semi truck and trailer parked on the shoulder and somehow hits the #### thing. Find a hungry lawyer and make $33Mil, of which scum bag lawyer probably got $10Mil.
If you laid all the lawyers in the US end to end they would reach the moon, and that would be a good thing.
