Guys,
Before I get into detail about the information I obtained, I would like to thank the following:
Amie: Select Trucks of Las Vegas
Lone Mountain Truck Leasing
Select Trucks no longer has the First time buyer program. You will need to come up with 20% of the final price of the tractor. The best warranty they do for an 06/07' Columbia is a 2yr 200K mile warranty direct from Freightliner.
Credit: I was told you do not have to have perfect credit but a good job history and a letter of intent of who you are going to work for. Ie if you want to lease on from Swift, you need to have a letter stating Bill von schnitzel intends on leasing on to Swift.
Lone Mountain Truck Leasing: A couple of members mentioned that the trucks barely have warranty if none at all. Yes it is true for 10%, or those that are high mileage. Current inventory shows the ex paradis trucks are the case. However the other 90% come standard with some type of warranty. An additional warranty may be purchased. I asked about a 2yr. She said once the standard one runs out, call them up and it would take place. Let's face it, you want to NOT have to pay out of pocket expenses. MM can fill you in on LMTL as got his as did other members.
Now why am I doing this thread??? I want to find the information out for myself and help others on this site. I will call International used trucks tomorrow and Arrow. I want everyone to know you have options besides leasing a truck.
Regards,
KH

A little off topic here,
Buying a truck is the easiest part of owning a truck. It get tough from there.
leannamarie and haulhand Thank this. -
I have seen alot of problems with these so-called .......
Warrenties.
They often are no more than a warm fuzzy feeling,
until something breaks !!!!! -
a warrenty should be free--you are giving them money up front for repairsdown the road that hopefully they might cover
it might not be a bad thing if you have a major breakdown--and if they will cover it
i would read it very very carefully--even manafacturers warrentys arnt that good anymore--but at least they hide the fact that you are paying for them yourself -
Arrow Trucking seemed to not have much trouble getting trucks from damlier

-
yep if it is not major they are not going to cover it...
look at my situation i had on my 07 KW the coolant level sensor went out, and derated the engine to where i could get up a 7% grade... $480 dollar tow bill, the sensor was $297 and $98 for diag time and $109 to install the sensor, then $64 in coolant... warranty didn't cover one peice of this bill just sayin warranty's are not all they are cracked up to beLast edited by a moderator: Mar 16, 2011
123456 Thanks this. -
ouch--that hurts--the only saving grace was the tow bill i guess--that could have been worse
also with warrenty's--the bigger you are definately the more pull you have with warrenty ---
joe with one truck is luckey to get his basic warrenty covered---but xyz trucking that buys 100 trucks a year usually can get warrenty even when it has long over is some circumstances -
If anyone does decide to go through Lone Mountain, send me a PM when you plan on going there. I don't live too far from them and if in town, would be happy to have a coffee or meal with you. I've met some other members from this board that way.
