I have been offered a position with Barr-Nunn and have talked to some of their drivers. I know that recruiters are like lawyers. How do you know if they are lying? Their lips are moving and they will tell you want to hear to get you to come to work. They say they have a good pay scale, 2500 to 2800 miles a week, newer trucks, bonuses, etc. I have seen plenty of old posts on here against Barr-Nunn. I would like to hear from some current drivers or recent past drivers.
I have been with my current company for a year. I have gone from 3000+ miles a week down to as low as 1300. I am running about 1600 to 1800 miles a week now. I am out for 6 to 8 days and then home for a 34 reset. The company has gone from 300 trucks to 175 and has gotten rid of some of their customers. They are pushing drivers to run Northeast and NJ. I prefer to run long 500+ miles one way. I don't need to be home every weekend but would like to get home every other. The company has also stopped taking care of their trucks and won't spend money unless it is totally broken. I am tired of $300.00 to $400.00 paychecks.
I do not run off the books unless I decide it is needed. I don't sit in truckstops or rest areas. I get on the road run for my 10 or 11 hours and stop for 10 and start again. I take care of my truck as if it was mine. Do minor repairs to avoid road calls. Have a good driving record, no accidents, no DOT violations, etc. I am tired of doing a better job than steering wheel holders but not getting paid for it.
I would really like to find a Christ centered company to drive for. Not just that they have sayings on their trucks and trailer but actually believe in being Christ Followers and using his teachings. Please let me know ASAP as I am trying to decide what I should do.

I'd shop around some more. Barr-Nunn has a reputation of pretty crappy equipment maintenance. If you've got 10 years under your belt as it says in your stats, you should be able to just about write your ticket with any company. Look around your home area for some smaller companies.

You can do better than that my friend. I know a couple off hand that will treat the driver right but do not know if they are run by Christians. Calex Logistics is one.

The problem for me is I drove back in the 70's and early 80's. Then I went to work for a large company with plans to retire from there. 2 years ago they got rid of over 50% of the work force and I went back on the road. So I only have 2 years that I can use on my applications. Also, local companies here seem to be focusing on Northeeast and New Jersey. N ot too many with long haul runs.

The shorter runs are becoming more typical everywhere. I haven't heard a lot of good about Barr-Nunn though. Crete just started a new Wal-Mart regional run in PA, I think Pittston or something like that. I'd give them a call to find out more. Good Luck

I think they have a terminal right up the road from Walmart Dist out of Washington Courthouse(OH)
