Truck driving schools are like slot machines for companies (SCAM!)

How about, its illegal for you to drive a class 8 CMV on a permit without someone who holds a CDL in the vehicle. Also, no one in their right mind will hire you - especially since the insurance companies control who drives, and who doesn't.

I second what ironpony posted - I guess you could teach yourself to drive a big truck if you owned an old airport, and had room to do all the moves it takes to pass the road test portion of the CDL exam. You also have to learn the pre-trip exam, since one wrong question fails you.

You're still having a party in your noggin... I'm not interested in "winning" (duh! winning) this conversation... but I really wish you would read and understand instead of just wanting to argue and expecting to change the world because you'll actually have to work and pay to accomplish what you're trying to do.

 

You do have to have a licensed CDL holder in the truck with you.

 

It's only illegal if you are NOT accompanied by a valid CDL holder. Guess what? it works the same with a car, you can't drive a car on a permit unless you have someone with you that has a valid drivers license.

OTOH though this just made me think of something. How come a motorcycle learners permit allows you to ride solo and not have a valid MC endorsed rider with you? Food for thought.
