Time to Decide

Have you bee notified that you're going to be let go yet? If not ride it out, spend your summer looking for another teaching job. If that falls through trucking is always going to be there. However depending on what your two degrees are in (and I'll assume one is in teaching) you might be able to find work in one of those fields. But let's say that you have a degree in Biology or Chemistry. If this is the case further that degree and set yourself up for working in the Medical field. Pharmacology sounds like a good route to me, or go with Physician Assistant. Well whatever you chose , good luck to ya.

 

he can also go back to school for more learning and become a college professor...???

now, he ain't gotta worry about a girlfriend, he'll have dozens wanting "good grades"......

 

Another question, are you in the Clark County School District? I would have to imagine that is pretty large and that if you wanted to transfer to a different location within Las Vegas you'd be able to do so.

Or like Rerun said, do the professor thing. Or drive a cab, wait tables, hustle tourists, give Hoover Dam tours, be a slot machine attendant, or just live underground in the drainage tunnels like the homeless do.

 

I say go for it. To many of us never realize our childhood dreams. Even if you only do it for a short time and of course you do have your degrees and can come back to teaching, the experiences you have while trucking can be shared with your students. Once you are licensed, you could use your CDL for a summer job while school is out. As far as your parents are concerned, well if they can't support you in what you want to do.. nuff said!

Best advice I got was from the CDL instructor at the local college, who teaches but hasn't driven for years - "Getting back in the truck is the last option before working at the Quickie Mart!"

If I had any kind of college degree, I'd look to either continuing in that field, or retraining for another.
