I was wondering if these programs are comparable to the 14/7 offerred in some other areas. I have no OTR but have ten years of driving tractor trailer pulling oversize doubles. Recruiter emailed me and wants to get me lined up with orientation but she has not answered my questions regarding if I have to go out with a trainer first. I can not call her because I work from 0600 in the morning till 0600 at night and get home around 0700. I can only email her. Any info from anyone doing this type of run would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

    Hey there Wing...
you likely dont know me by my on line handle, but we met at the Vancouver terminal for W/S last year when I first started with then. I am now driving for Schneider... the 7/7 is 7 days out and 7 days home, 4/4 is 4 days out and 4 days home, they are basically part time positions....

I think you're talking about the "Flex Fleet"? It' a pretty decent program if it works for you. You'll make the same per mile as a regular driver, but less miles, and no benefits.
The 14/7 is 14 out, 7 in. You'll still make the regular driver pay, and benefits, but again, you'll make less than a guy out 3 weeks, and in 2-3 days And you'll slip seat trucks. That worked great while I was there.

SNI has a lot of options for a driver. They suggested, I didn't ask, that I get with another driver in my area, and work out how the two of us wanted to drive. They really didn't care, as long as the truck was making money. The other driver and I had been there a while, and they knew we did what was needed, you're lucky to be offered that right off the street. I left due to reasons other than SNI, but they bent over backwards to try and help me.:biggrin_25525:

The 7 on 7 off and the 4 on 4 off ad says that if you work a minimum of 15 days a month you qualify for benifits. Is this wrong? I want to do this for a couple years until my son is out of high school and then go western regional or OTR.

I know there is a minimum hours a month to qualify as full time, that's not SNI's guidelines, that's governmental. Part time is how places like mallwart keep benefits away.
Your best bet is to call SNI and ask about that. I'll admit, I'm not the brightest bulb, but never did I suspect SNI to lie to me.:biggrin_25525:
I thought with the other driver and myself, and I could be wrong, I never asked, that benefits were not there.
Please let us know what you find out, I try not to give misleading info.:biggrin_255:

Not to sound negative, but if you want to drive part time AND get medical benefits, you might not be making money every week since schneider's health plans are kind of expensive.

They sent me a benifits form that described their coverage but I really did not understand how it worked. Has a HRA/ with Incentive which I am unfamilier with. My current company is taking our good benifits away and giving us an HSA plan. I go from no deductible with doctor copays to a 3000 dollar deductible and a HSA. Schneider is the only company that will take my ten years Itrastate and hire me as experienced. They also claim I will not have to go out with a trainer.
