Seriously why have the rates not went up ? Is it due to the fact that people are really willing to haul something for lets say for 1.50/mile when it really suppose to be 2.0/mi ? I just dont understand how could someone haul certain loads, knowing its better for you literally to go be a greeter at Walmart for that day you will get the same EXACT pay, after you pay everything else.

IMO the rares don't go up because there are too many truckers that can't count. Any idiot can get a license and almost any idiot can buy a truck. They the go out and haul for whatever rate they can find assuming that it will surfice and then after awhile find out that the numbers don't work. They then start by whining that there is no money in trucking, then they go broke. Not to worry though, there's another knob comin right along that can't count to take their place. The shippers just keep quoting the same low rate as long as there's some idiot willing to give it a go.
Paddletrucker, Purger, JimDriv3r and 1 other person Thank this. -
Yeah..but,there are some big carriers that cant seem to be able to count.
My company that has had a reliable steady 700mile trip for the last several years out of Chicago and several other IL./Wis. shippers was recently undercut by Cr England by $1000. on the trip.
They have been paying $2100 on 700 mile trip for the last several years..Shipper liked our good service..they were happy..we were happy...but....NO....
England had to come in and bid it at $1100.
Now the shipper has been calling us to complain about England giving them poor service(to bad)Bob's Buzz Thanks this. -
there's to many drivers out there
-
exactly!!!!! -
England called me today for a flatbed load from ky to mi and shorted a bunch of miles on it like chr does said there hurting for trucks . I
guess there still hurting ! -
When most of your trucks consist of L/Os that are paying the expense of owning and operating the truck, at a profit to England, then anything over the amount paid to the L/O is profit for the company. That is why so many companies are going the L/O route for their drivers.
England is profiting from the L/Os truck and from the freight. If there is enough money in escrow, the company makes money if the truck never moves.Last edited: Mar 24, 2011

thats a great way to put it... let someone else cover the the truck fuel and ins and keep the rest is all the L/O route is

Rates have went up but if you keep dealing with brokers that wont give you $2pm or more its you own fault. when you start hauling cheap they put you on the cheap hauler list because they know you have and will work cheap. So far I have hauled one cheap load for a reason $1.78 pm rest been over $2. When I post my truck I post it at $2 pm. Some of the ones you may think is cheap is paying top dollar KLLM Landstar and a couple I cant list that loads never hit a load board they call the drivers they use regular to pass the loads to. Find you a few good brokers to work with pass them a few leads and they will reward you(Just dont pass TQL brokers any leads). I was lucky have a friend and neighbor that shared his contacts and informed the broker of me. And you always hear about drivers wont share their contacts because their contacts only have so many loads. There are brokers out there that are not all about screwing the drivers. If its not paying at lease $2 pm just say no thanks I have never sat long uasally some one will call me offering $2 or more. My truck is sitting in front of my house with a 3000lb load # $2.08 I try to stay away from loads over 30Klb and anything that runs below 0 degrees
Speaking of England if you are refering to CR England they pay pretty good ratesrjones56 Thanks this. -
Hard to compete with the "big boys" who are operating on a penny profit margin per mile fleetwide.
Personally I prefer loads that I know are likely to have detention time involved.Love getting paid to do nothing.Take a nap or work on the truck.
If a broker lies to me once,I don`t use them again.
