Hi, I am as of Friday March 25th 2011 no longer driving for Watkins and Shepard, it is a very good company to grow my horns or to get my feet wet, they do well with the brand new CDL graduate straight from driving school, I learned so very much from driving for them but felt it time to move on, so I placed my application with Conway truckload and have answered all of my questions, I feel like they will be a good match for me and the way I run as well as the way I would like to get home, I was scheduled to start orientation in Lancaster Texas on March 28th but because of issues in getting out of California on time I am going to have to wait till the following week, April 4th 2011, I will add to the thread as I can and when I have something to add. I look forward to a long and awarding career with Conway Truckload. Thanks TD24

Welcome aboard, Truckerdaddy24. I have been here almost three years and it is a pretty good company.

Thank You, I look forward to it, Today as I drove my last trip with my current company, I saw several Con-way trucks going into Cali, I noticed that most of those guys were older then me, I hope that is a good sign. Thanks. TD24

What can you tell me to look out for etc. Did you go to Lancaster for your orientation? What kind of clutching do they prefer? I am great at floating but I have been in an automatic for the past while. Thanks. TD24

Hey what should I be aware of before I head into orientation? Do they prefer a type of clutching over another? I have been in an automatic for a while, Did you go to Lancaster for your orientation? Thanks.

I am not sure about orientation in Lancaster, but I know they have been moving it around to different cities to the number of students and new drivers there. They prefer you double clutch, but once your out on your own you can resort to floating. Don't worry too much TruckerDaddy24, you will do just fine.

I went thru orientation a month ago and the guys in Joplin don't care what you do. Just as long as you drive safely. People say if you show up that Thursday you are all but hired. We had a guy get the bus ticket home with about 3 hours left.

At the Holiday Inn in Joplin. Just walked over to steak and shake a little bit ago and got some dinner. Saw a Con Way truck parked in the Sam's parking lot. Didn't see anyone sitting in the cab. Don't know if he was in the diner or in the sleeper but he was gone when I came out. Big Red CFI tractor with a Con Way trailer.

I think it had something to do with a drug test. He was a nice guy. They didn't really say to much info. I felt bad for him. Oh well life goes on.
