What you are looking for is something like the Tracvision A7 antenna. Mounts flat to the roof, only 2-3 thick, no bubble.
Cheapest I found it is about $2600 (ouch!!)
Amazon.com had the best price I could find quickly

Personally I would go with the Vuecube (stationary) or one of the bubble inmotion antennas (around $1200).

I believe what you are talking about is a "YAGI" antenna. It is used mostly for Ham Radio operation, but is also used to receive internet via wifi or microwave.
Still pretty much a "line-of-sight" internet connection. Plus you have to have an "account". -
Try blacksheepsatellite no TV, but uses a setup and dish like the TV ones, gotta aim it and everything
-
Try Slingbox it works thru the laptop and recieves TV from your home for no monthly charge just buy the box once at $99.00 to $149.00 and your on anywhere you have internet access thru your aircard.

Thanks for all your help out there you have given me alot of items to check out

I agree, the Slingbox is great. As long as you have cable, dish or direct tv at home you can watch it on the road anywhere as long as you have a internet connection. I have Dish Network and when I travel I can watch my dish and watch the shows that I have recorded on my DVR also. Go to slingbox dot com for more info. You can also watch it on a palm, treo or blackberry device.

You can use one of two company products for Sat TV. They both make them for Trucks, Marine, RV, etc. Both will work with Direct TV and Dish Network as well as some lesser known ones.
Some versions, by either company, work while truck is in motion (the same way GPS works) which are more expensive and others only when stopped.
Prices start at $6oo or so depending on where you buy, but can quickly get up to two grand or so if you want in motion and HD quality video.
This site won't let me add links yet so just Google or Yahoo:
King Controls to get to View Cube site
KVH to get to another type with a low profile dome.
Direct TV and RV to get to Direc TV site concerning trucks.
Hope this helps some.Last edited: Mar 26, 2011

Directv now has this portable satellite/receiver/TV all-in-one called the Sat-Go:
