I've read on there website some and have heard from someone to kinda stay away from schneider because of there no idle time thing. What can you guys tell me over all about the company?? Also had TMC and swift call me today. TMC I think is pretty much out because well for first year out I don't really want to think to much about strapping stuff down.

    Any advice would be great?

Securing a load isn't all that bad, it's tarping them that sux.

SNI does have an idle policy, I think all the big companies do. But, at least 9 months ago, it wasn't zero idle. IIRC it was around 10%, in the winter? I may be wrong about that, it also depends on what time of year, and why you idled. They have mandatory idling when the temps are down around 10. If you have to idle for whatever reason, you let your DBL know where, how long, what the temps were, and it can be written off and your not charged. Both of you just have to be reasonable. Summertime idle is allowed longer than winter. The trucks have a junk Webasto in them for heat when it's cold out, so you won't freeze, as long as it works. Those things are a bit finicky, but if you run specifically by the instructions, it should last you. It's all connected to your bonuses. The winter idling I always made, the summertime was a little different for me, anything over 80-85 is just too hot for this kid.:biggrin_25525:

I'd have to agree the summer down here in Louisiana is just plain freaking hot. I like it around 68-70 degrees is where i can sleep at night.
I was told that werner trucks all have this auxilary motor to run the air and all when stopped and if this is true? I'd rather go with them them just to stay comfortable. I don't mean to sound like a sissy here but I can't take the heat especially when sleeping. Do you know anything about the werner trucks having this??

    Thanks
    Chris

I think there's some special people at Werner that have them. But man, their pay is low, and that blue is ugly!!!:biggrin_2559:
And do you really want to be somewhere that all you need is 6 months to be a trainer? I lasted 11 weeks with them, the only thing I got that I wanted, was where I was driving. The guys in road service were the final straw. I called them because the garbage they gave me,was always breaking down. The first response when they found out what truck I was, "What the f@$k is wrong with your truck this time". No thanks, I'm gone. :biggrin_25510:

well what company's can you recommend coming out of school?
I don't really want to go flatbed fresh out of school so TMC is out, there is swift, schneider, KLLM. Covenant sound like cr*p and well Werner. I'm thinking werner swift or schneider. Friend is working for swift and loves it so guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed with whoever i go with and maybe I'll get lucky

I'd recommend SNI, I was with Werner like I said. Swift has a bad rep, whether it's deserved or not, I don't know. I've talked with a few of the older Swift drivers, and they seemed decent enough. They do have their share of drivers that are less than stellar, but don't they all?:biggrin_255:

yeah I've seen the trucks but with no experience at all I don't feel it is a good idea to go with them with no experience at all
