Tall driver problems?

    I'm 6'7 and going to start OTR with Schneider next week - been only day cab up to this point with prev co. Will I be able to sleep in a standard sleeper cab? Any tall drivers have any tips to share?

    I am 6'4" and have driven a Freightliner Classic and two Western Stars. The Classic was ok, but I could touch my feet on one side of the bunk and my pillow was on the other wall. The Star's have way more room, I keep my pillow away from the wall a bit and I can't touch the other wall with my feet.

    As far as driving, the Classic wasn't too bad but the cup holder always was hitting my knee and I couldn't put my legs out. The Star has nothing in the way of my knees and I can stretch my legs out under the dash and off to the side of the clutch.

    I'm only 6' tall but had trouble driving International 4900's there was no leg room in them.You'll never have to deal with them since 99% of them are daycabs.

    I'm 6'5", not had too many issues with most ecept a pete 379 was kinna tight

    Also 6'5" and the only problems I find is my knee keeps turning off the left turn signal and the window is a little short, have problems with seeing the traffic lights when sitting first in line at the light. Also can't use the visor at all. But sleeping no problem.

    lol, yeah - I turn off the left turn signal with my knee sometimes too.

    I'm 6'-3" and drive a daycab Mack. I frequently cancel left turn signals, and there's a sweet spot of perfect seat adjustment. My knee, the steering wheel, window crank, and turn signal arm are all fighting for the same area unless I get it right.

    It was awkward at first (I initially thought there was no way I'd be able to properly operate the clutch), but I got used to the setup and have become comfortable with it.

    I run a daycab, so I've got nothing to add on the sleeper concerns.

    I'm 6'4" and was canceling the left turn signal with my knee while I was taking my test! It kinda sucked and got me all worked up! But passed anyways! I'm not to concerned about the sleeper, I always sleep in the fetal position anyways! :biggrin_25523:

    The only truck I've been in where I couldn't completely stretch out in the bunk was a Volvo. This ProStar is nice and long. I can stretch out and still have room left. I'm 6'5" btw. Driving hasn't been a problem. I don't hit anything with my knees. Well, maybe the stick when I'm trying to turn and get out of my seat to get to the back.

    Two benefits of being tall. You can still wash your windshield with one of those short handles squeegees. You can reach the top of your door side mirror while standing on the ground. :)

    I'm 6'5" and had no problems sleeping in a Freightliner Classic. I found driving with the seat all the way up and all the way back helped me avoid hitting the turn signals as you don't have to raise your leg as much to reach the clutch since you have less of an angle in your knees. I did almost break off the signal switch climbing out of the truck once not paying attention though.
