Well I have decided to start a thread on the progress of my apprenticeship at con-way freight. Didnt rele seem like anyone here wen through it so i have decided to post all my progresses here.

its week 4, been on the dock doing the inbound every day so far, had to watch a bunch of training videos and take some tests that were on the videos. they have u do a defensive driving class which is called the smith driving systems, then they take you for a little driving test in a car. I believe in the next week or two they willl have me learn the safe stack system

I didn't like the E-Track or Safestack trailers at first, but loaders that know what they're doing can really max out weight and bills on a trailer while still building a perfect break load with no damage. Only negative to them is they tend to pull top heavy. I can't emphasize enough to drivers new at pulling doubles how important it is to take it easy on curves and develop a smooth driving style. Movement amplifies on the way back and a top heavy back box will go if you're not careful..

    bonbonsron and ACH1130 Thank this.

my terminal they only allow a certain load weight on the top racks, but pulling the doubles i never thought about, thx for the advice. still very nervous of pulling my first set of doubles, my class starts the 28th, and my trainer says he will have me pull them so i can get used to them

Weight ratings are what they are.. Just be careful man.. Not trying to scare you but the load limit on the top rack has nothing to do with what's under it..

I had an instance last year while running night line-haul that I made public here and maybe you new drivers at Con-way can get somthing out of it..

I dropped off the shoulder of a US Highway in Va running home one morning and when I hit the road again the kite kicked hard but did no go over because it was full of loose boxes weighing 2500 LBS.. Had that trailer been a Safestack with any weight above floor level I would have gone over in the median..

A set will bite you faster than you'll realize...

started doing the outbound yesterday. its very fast paced, and a lot faster than the inbound, because the line haul has to be out by certain times

    jondun Thanks this.
