Is it me or are construction workers really a pain in the you know what? It seems that they're always getting in the way. They slow down traffic. They block your path. They just plain make commute more difficult for us truck drivers. It really does piss me off that they're always making everything more difficult for is. Fact of the matter is, they are always in the way. I'm sick of it. They really do ruin my day. Everything seems to be going great until I run into construction workers. They stop the flow of things. They hinder more than help. We don't get in their way, so why should they get in ours? Sorry, I just had to vent. Construction workers are the number 1 cause of my road rage. I wish they were'nt around. They really know how to ruin a pefectly good day.

Get used to it as it is part of the job. Do a little window shopping instead of letting it upset you.
scottied67 Thanks this. -

scottied67 Thanks this. -
they are just doing their job--get over it--calm down a bit---if you are stuck in a line up---clean your dash--update your log book--when its been a long wait for an accident i have even had a nap in the bunk--no use getting all excited about it---besides that time you are sitting there waiting will probabely let your log book catch up
scottied67 and Palazon Thank this. -
I hope they are working...the more they work, the more aggregate & related products we haul to supply them. Not only that, its work for redi-mix drivers too. And what's concrete made out of? yep...agg & sand.
How realistic is it to get mad at someone for doing their job? Even telemarketers...just politely say no thanks and hang up. Simple.MassHole, scottied67, panhandlepat and 2 others Thank this. -
You know how people complain about us drivers going to slow, or taking up too much space? Well we bring the stuff they like to buy at the stores. How do we get to those stores and other delivery locations? On roads! With out the workers that grind your gears so, we would be beat to death on poor roads. Our repair costs would be greater and it would take longer to get to places cause you wont be speeding down the road, instead you will be going slower to keep your insides in. So next time your inconvienced by those pesky workers on the side of the road or even in the road, think about how much more of a P.I.T.A. it would be without them.
It amazes me how many people out there think they are the only ones on the road and everyone should just get the hell out of THIER way. Its part of the job get used to it or get another job.panhandlepat, Flying Dutchman, Kittyfoot and 2 others Thank this. -
Another NEWBIE without knowing the business, it's part of our "hazardous occupation", every job has it. Listen to your news channel radio if your in the city, and C.B. radio if your out in the country. Do your planning in advance if your in a hurry. BTW, Welcome to the real world of TRUCKING.
Palazon Thanks this. -
i unfortunately do not have any statistical numbers with me right now, but do you know that there are many deaths and serious injuries at construction sites from moronic drivers, both car and big rig than many other occupations..??
do YOU THINK those tiny cones or barrels actually prevent construction workers from harm..??
do YOU THINK that thier safety at a site is NO MORE important than yours..???
do you know that truckers in a very big hurry and trying to get through a construction zone get whacked with hefty fines...and points....???
I HAVE SEEN death and destruction at construction sites, and until YOU DO, you will talk your ignorant self away......
i can ASURE YOU the carnage, blood, gore i HAVE SEEN at construction sites, makes ME GLAD i hold back and suck it up...
do i hate seeing construction season...??? of course i do....but it's a necessary evil we have to go through for better roads.
YOU NEED to PLAN BETTER than WHAT YOU ARE DOING, AND FIND A WAY AROUND....
maybe perhaps instead of yaking on the phone, or NOT listening to the cb radio for warnings is making this ALL YOUR FAULT....
i know I FIND "go arounds" when construction season is upon us....
good luck, you obviously NEED IT.....Last edited: Mar 30, 2011

You do have a good point. I never saw it that way. Yes, I am a newbie and I don't know anything about the industry. I've been reading all your comments and you guys are right. Thanks for waking me up. If I want to continue (and I do) in this industry, then I need to get used to it. Thank you guys for waking me up. Your feedback means a lot, especially coming from experienced truckers. That's why I use this forum. I like it a lot. Keep the constructive criticism coming.

wear a clean baseball cap on Sundays, always agree with the waitress you DID order the duck, keep your fingers clean and pick your nose only after 5 PM on days that end in "Y"......
